ROSEHILL

SATURDAY 11 AUGUST

TRACK:      GOOD 4                RAIL:    +3M

BEST BETS:

Race 7             No.8    HARPER’S CHOICE

Race 9             No.7    PARET

Race 1

7 – 2 – 6 – 3

JETGIRL comes here off a big win at Bathurst which made it two on the trot and she looks the one to beat here having drawn barrier one and Shinn to steer. Table Mountain looks the obvious and main threat as he resumes here off a four month spell having trialled twice the latest a dominant win at Muswellbrook. You’d be surprised if one of the two doesn’t win.

Race 2

8 – 7 – 3 – 4

THE MACALLAN was very disappointing last start after getting a perfect run in transit so why am I tipping him again? I am being a little forgiving in that it was only his second start in Australia and I think he found the hot pace awkward getting him out of his comfort zone. I think he can stalk and be in the mix but I concede Nicci’s Gold will be hard to toss after having zero luck last Saturday. Nicci’s Gold query is the 2000m but the soft draw will certainly help. Braces and Estikhraaj look the next best chances to my eye along with Trafalgar.

Race 3

1 – 4 – 10 – 9

I thought BERGERAC did a good job last Saturday and I see no reason he won’t be hard to beat again this weekend. He will roll forward and I think find the front on sit handy to Reiby Rampart and with him being rock hard fit should be hard to get past. Island Missile meets Bergerac 2 ½ kilos better off and is the obvious danger having started a clear favourite in their clash seven days ago. Snitzel Day was very good behind Paret last start and can play a role here while Mapmaker and Travancore are both capable of being in the mix.

Race 4

11 – 5 – 8 – 2

I think double figure odds available for BELLA SUCCESS is a fair gamble as she finally steps to 1400m after five runs this preparation as distance she has been to once for a win. She will get back and with a light weight I expect to see her charging hard late. Her stablemate Sweet Scandal is looking for three on the trot after taking a big step last start when winning with ease at Warwick Farm. She will race handy and is sure to be around the mark. Irithea did a good job winning last start and has to be considered a player here especially if she gets a nice time up front. Istria was very good first up and if she can back that up she will be the firing line.

Race 5

9 – 2 – 10 – 7

The favourite Tactical Advantage resumed from an eight month spell and was awesome in winning the July Sprint at Randwick in emphatic fashion. His concern is he jumps 7 ½ kilos but according to Kris Lees on the Just Racing video this week he has done well since and bounced off the win well. I am going to go with TREKKING who gets a 7kg pull in the weights and looks ready to rock ‘n’ roll going off his nice barrier trial 12 days ago. Miss Que is the blow out for mine if they overdo it up front.

Race 6

1 – 4 – 5 – 8

Plague Stone was very good winning first up in the Rosebud Prelude but gee I think he has come up here silly odds. I would be surprised if he didn’t drift but that said he is a major player. I am going to go with LEGEND OF CONDOR who resumes off two trials the latest on Tuesday this week where he looked cherry ripe to my eye and from barrier one he will get the chance to relax then come with a bang. Oxford Tycoon was awesome at Wyong and comes here as the query runner while Charge and Sandbar must be respected.

Race 7

8 – 1 – 10 – 12

HARPER’S CHOICE comes here off a six week freshen up albeit he had a barrier trial in between to keep him up to the mark. He comes back from 2400m to 1800m which I think suits and from the inside gate he should stalk the leader and be amongst the spoils. The fav Mister Sea Wolf is the class runner and although he goes up 4kg here it’s a matter if can repeat the effort as he has been hard to catch. Carzoff will relish the weight drop so watch him while Green Sweet looks huge odds for the run he looks to get on the seven day back up.

Race 8

10 – 3 – 1 – 13

FLOW showed last start he can take a sit and still accelerate and even though he was run down his effort was very good. He will roll forward here and like sit in the first three and with this race being 1400m and not like last start at 1500m he gives him an even better chance as all his four wins have come at the seven furlongs. Invinzabeel is the type that needs room and from gate six he should be able to stalk the leading couple and get his chance to go bang. Prized Icon is first up off two very good trials and is the big watch for me here. He is a quality horse and trainer Kris Lees gave him a nice push on the Just Racing video this week.

Race 9

7 – 1 – 3 – 2

There is no doubt PARET has come back a better horse this time and we got to see that last start with a dominant win here albeit off a gem of a ride. He comes back 50m and finds a race with less speed which is a worry but even saying that he will be hard to hold out. Star Of Monsoon is low flying and looks the biggest threat especially having drawn a perfect barrier. The drop in grade will aid him and so will the claim for Sam Weatherley. Ghostly and Mr Tickets look players as they will settle on or near the front.
