WYONG

TUESDAY 20 FEBRUARY

TRACK:            SOFT 5                         RAIL:    +3m

Race 1

3 – 2 – 5 – 4

In a race that looks to have a lack of quality from those that have raced and those on debut MIGHTY MARMALADE stands out off the back of one official barrier trial. At her only trial she was slow out of the gates settling at the back before finding the line ok in a trial with a few handy racehorses. If she jumps cleanly from the inside gate she should debut with a win.

Race 2

3 – 6 – 7 – 2

OYSTER BAY is an un-raced 4yo mare who finally gets her chance today to showcase her ability on race day. She has had her issues but going off her latest barrier trial win at Rosehill when she was a little slow to begin before mustering speed quickly to lead and win the hit out without any real pressure being applied. She should kick start her career with a win.

Race 3

8 – 7 – 4 – 3

Looks a tricky race but I haven’t been overly excited about any of the debutantes but I concede Navigator, Cloak and Laburnum have shown ability and can play a major role as the raced brigade are nothing flash. That said I’ve settled on ONTHETAKE who was fair on debut in the group 3 Widden stakes behind Fiesta and I am sure she will appreciate the step up from 1100m to 1350m.

Race 4

1 – 2 – 3 – 5

The top two INVINCIBLE GANGSTA and Leogang pick themselves and there doesn’t look much between them. I ended up putting Invincible Gangsta on top marginally just going off what I thought was a terrific effort to win running away at Newcastle over 900m.

Race 5

5 – 9 – 1 – 2

Another race that doesn’t enthuse me with a case to be made for the top four in the market. I settled on GUIPURE who has trialled well and from gate two should lob in a lovely spot. Her two career runs to date have been against some handy types and if she has come back she will figure here.

Race 6

5 – 8 – 6 – 1

I thought SAINT KATARINA did a good job on debut when she never shirked the task and chased right to the line finished a gallant third to Wedgie. That run will have bought her on and from a good barrier she should get a nice run in transit. Flying covered ground but kept coming last start at Kembla while Bring Euro was in the same race and disappointing but did look like the run would help his fitness.

Race 7

4 – 9 – 7 – 10

Originally I was going to pot GLOBAL ROCKET but without much quality in the race he picks himself simply for the fact he is in good form having won two of his past three runs and from barrier one he should get a good run.

Race 8

3 – 2 – 5 – 4

Follow On looks under the odds around the $1.90 mark so I have looked elsewhere and settled on REGAL MONARCH who comes here off a good second at Newcastle behind Resort. He has had three runs back from a spell now and the step up to 2100m should be ideal so I think he’s the one to beat. Chilli Beauty is looking for three wins on the trot and will make his presence felt.
