Improving gelding Travolta is set to join several stablemates in the Wyong Cup after an impressive Rosehill victory.

Carrying 59.5kg with apprentice Siena Grima’s three-kilo claim, Travolta ($6.50) powered home from the back to win Saturday’s Wests Group Macarthur Handicap (2000m) by 1-1/4 lengths over She’s Unusual ($10), with stablemate Tazima ($2.20 fav) another three-quarters of a length away.

Assistant trainer Charlie Duckworth confirmed the gelding is likely to back up in Friday’s Listed Wyong Cup (2100m).

“He keeps ticking the boxes and progressing and to tell you the truth, we don’t really know how far he can go,” Duckworth said.

The win also marked Grima’s first Saturday metropolitan success, just weeks after her maiden midweek city victory on Tazima.

Duckworth said the Waller yard is expected to have multiple Cup runners, with Saltcoats, Tajanis and Hutchins also targeting the race, which offers Big Dance eligibility.
