Trainer Peter Snowden expected the initial victory for unbeaten filly Plaintiff, yet the style of her success could have turned a few heads.

Exceptionally bred as a three-year-old daughter of Zoustar from Group One victor Prompt Response, Plaintiff targets a fifth successive triumph when contesting the Group 3 JHB Carr Stakes (1400m) at Randwick this Saturday.

Her performance stood out among the triumphs on the glamorous opening day of The Championships, surging from the tail to secure the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes (1200m), with Snowden noting her consistent demonstration of stakes-grade prowess.

“It wasn’t a surprise to us,” Snowden said.

She notched three victories from three outings in her prior campaign, all in metropolitan company, and the team has long maintained a strong view of her capabilities.

Plaintiff enters as the standout elect at $1.90 for the JHB Carr Stakes this Saturday, and Snowden feels assured she can preserve her perfect record prior to eyeing loftier assignments in Queensland.

“I think she can go on with it,” Snowden said.

“She’s got a really good attitude, she’s got a good racing profile, she doesn’t pull, she relaxes really well and she’s got a turn of foot so she should get seven furlongs okay.

“We’ll get through Saturday and see what happens, but she’s got good ability and you can aim a bit higher with her and know she’ll be competitive.”

Last campaign she travelled prominently on speed, but Snowden believes Plaintiff carries all required attributes to capture the JHB Carr Stakes irrespective of barrier draw, shouldering top impost of 57kg in the set weights and penalties race.

“She’s sat outside the leader in her first preparation at Rosehill so she’s pretty adaptable,” Snowden said

“You never get too far ahead of yourself but she’s certainly full of good potential.”
