Vet checks continue for Caulfield Cup 2022

Only two horses remain to be given a clean bill of health to contest the Caulfield Cup.

Racing Victoria vets did their rounds on Thursday inspecting 16 of the 18 horses in Saturday’s Group 1 contest over 2400m along with the two emergencies.

The 18 horses were given the all-clear to start on Saturday.

The 2019 Melbourne Cup winner Vow And Declare and last year’s Geelong Cup winner Tralee Rose will be inspected by RV vets on Friday.

The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained Smokin’ Romans is the clear-cut $4.60 favourite with TAB for Saturday’s race with Benaud on the second line at $9 ahead of last year’s Caulfield Cup runner-up Nonconformist at $10.
