West Star continues to impress as a rising star in racing.

The three-year-old proved his worth in the Northam Stakes (1300m), where he was the best backed runner and delivered on expectations.

Despite being trapped wide and facing challenges, West Star surged ahead with 200m to go, pulling away to defeat Magnificent Andy by 1 3/4 lengths. Comfort Me claimed third.

His win followed a strong performance in the Quokka (1200m), where he finished seventh but held his ground as the only three-year-old in the race.

Jockey Lucy Fiore, in her first ride on West Star, was impressed by his class. “He is lovely, and we definitely won that one on class alone,” she said. “When I said go at the 250m, he put them away. It was a really impressive win.”

West Star now has five wins from eight starts and over $700,000 in prizemoney. Trainer Simon Miller confirmed plans for a Melbourne spring campaign for both West Star and Generosity later this year.
