BIG RICHIE gave the bookies heart palpitations on Saturday when Vienna Romance loomed in the third at Rosehill before odds on pop New Universe $1.8 for Tommy Berry and Chris Waller arrived late to snare the major prizemoney.

Our man was bullish the Gerald Ryan prepared 3yo filly Vienna Romance was huge overs at $21 mind you $41 was offered and taken before she started officially $26.

Here’s what was posted on www.justracing.com.au

Race 3                   No.8      Vienna Romance

Before I get onto the horse I think is big odds I concede the favourite New Universe may just be too good especially if trainer Chris Waller is contemplating a Stradbroke start with the son of Darci Brahma…………

Righto with all that said I am having a small play on number 8 Vienna Romance who turns up here off a good effort at Gosford over the flying 1000m where things didn’t fall into place as she covered ground before lugging badly around the bend. The winner Test The World won at Warwick Farm on Wednesday in good fashion to give the form some relevance. She was entitled to knock up and finish midfield or worse but not this girl. Once balanced up she really found the line and all this under the impost of 59kgs. Yes this grade is a step up but with 53kgs on her back…………..

That’s not the only reason you should follow Big Richie Callander as he posts his tips for all city and provincial meetings in NSW here on Just Racing as he had a pretty handy day on the tip at Rosehill including his triple XXX special of the day DAGNY saluting in the final race of the day at $4 to send the punters home with pockets full of cash.

Richie started the day keen on the Godolphin youngster Viridine who made it two wins from as many starts but the big fella was back on earth very quickly when he got race two wrong with Quick Feet getting the money.

The Big man wasn’t down long as he bounced back in spectacular fashion with Vienna Romance running second to New Universe in the third (Quinella $16.6) before going bang bang and bang in the fourth, fifth and sixth. First Hay Now $3.70 won before Clear The Beach from the Greg McFarlane yard was far too good $10 and then Broadside $5 out toughed his opponents in the sixth event making three winners in succession.

Dagny who was wearing blinkers for the first time won the last in a canter sending home the followers of Big Rich with a smile on their faces and a pocket full of cash.
