Autumn Glow faces defining test in Toy Show Quality

Unbeaten mare Autumn Glow is set to be one of the stars of Saturday’s Winx Stakes meeting, with her Group 3 Toy Show Quality (1100m) return shaping as a pivotal moment in her career.

Trainer Chris Waller says the four-year-old’s performance will help determine her path, with even a tilt at The Everest a possibility.

“We’re not sure whether she is a sprinter or a miler,” Waller said. “The Epsom looks perfect for her but we are going to give her a chance to sprint. Who is to say she is not an Everest contender?”

Autumn Glow was a dual acceptor but Waller opted for the mares’ feature over the Show County Quality. James McDonald rides at 55.5kg.

The Darby Munro Stakes winner resumes after a strong autumn and is unbeaten in four starts, though she is untested on heavy ground.

Waller cautioned against overhyping her just yet, adding: “I want to tick the Group One box first so I’m not getting too excited until then.”

A field of 11 will line up, including Group 1 winner Manaal, Robert Sangster Stakes runner-up Ameena and the progressive Shohisha.
