Autumn Glow has strengthened her claim as the best horse in training yet to win a Group 1 after another dominant display at Rosehill.
The unbeaten four-year-old made it six in a row with a brilliant victory in the Theo Marks Stakes (1300m), a race Winx won before capturing the Epsom Handicap (1600m) a decade ago.
Chris Waller’s assistant trainer Charlie Duckworth said the Epsom remained the target, pending the handicapper’s assessment.
“She’s got to be the best horse in training who is yet to win a Group One, which is the one thing that’s missing off her resume, but I’m sure that will come,” Duckworth said.
“She is still very lightly raced and continuing to improve. She has got endless gears.”
Ridden by Kerrin McEvoy, Autumn Glow ($1.30 fav) quickened sharply to put the race beyond doubt, scoring by 2-1/4 lengths from General Salute ($8), with Pier ($6.50) another 1-3/4 lengths back in third.
McEvoy said she had the class to tackle either the Epsom mile or even drop back in trip for The Everest (1200m).
