Team Hawkes is weighing up options for promising colt Brave One, who is nominated for races in both Sydney and Melbourne this Saturday.
The three-year-old has drawn barrier 12 in the Quayclean Handicap (1300m) at Randwick and gate 13 in the Shop Flemington Handicap (1100m) on the straight course.
Co-trainer Michael Hawkes said the final decision will come down to more than just the draw.
“Melbourne, it’s probably the right side to be drawing, the outside grandstand,” he said.
“We’re going to weigh up the options… He can win in both places, to be honest.”
Brave One has placed in both starts this prep, running second on rain-affected ground at Canterbury and Rosehill, each time against older opposition.
“This time, he drops back to his own age group, which is probably perfect,” Hawkes added.
Dylan Gibbons is on standby for Sydney, while Jye McNeil is booked if Brave One heads south.
