Luke Cartwright delivered a breakout day at Sandown Hillside, riding a stunning metro treble for trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman.
The apprentice, who claims 3kg, partnered three winners between races five and seven, beginning with $15 outsider Suances, who stormed home to upset favourite Changing Colours.
Next up was Saban, who surged late to win the Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap (1800m) at benchmark 100 level.
“He can be a little bit difficult,” Coleman said. “Luke’s got a feel for him now… it was a lovely, confident ride.”
Cartwright capped the treble aboard Roadcone in the Stow Storage Solutions Handicap (1600m), controlling the race from the front to win by 2-1/4 lengths as a $4.40 betting sites chance.
“I’m a bit speechless,” Cartwright said. “To have all three turn up and perform, it means a lot.”
It marked the first metropolitan treble for both Cartwright and Coleman since she became co-trainer alongside Moody in 2023.
