Ciaron Maher will seek a third Australian Guineas win in four years when Another Prophet competes in the Group 1 race at Flemington.
Maher, alongside David Eustace, claimed the 2022 Guineas with Hitotsu, while Southport Tycoon won last year with Jamie Melham aboard.
Another Prophet is one of three horses Maher has entered for the Australian Guineas (1600m) on Saturday, alongside Kalkallo and Railway Man, though both are expected to race at Sandown on Wednesday.
Victorious in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) in November, Another Prophet has been specifically targeted at the Guineas this campaign.
Maher isn’t concerned about racing against the boys, noting that fillies like Mystic Journey (2019) and Legato (2023) have previously triumphed in the event.
After two runs this campaign, including a fourth-place finish at Sandown and a sixth in the Desirable Stakes at Flemington, Maher is confident Another Prophet is ready for the challenge.
“She’s in good order and she’s still going forward,” Maher said. “I don’t think it makes too much difference taking on the boys on Saturday, and she’s ready to run out a strong mile.”
Another Prophet is one of three fillies in the 23-horse field, joined by West Australian galloper London’s Image and Chris Waller’s Declichy Boulevard.
New Zealand’s Savaglee also enters, hoping to replicate Legarto’s success from two years ago.
Recent Yulong acquisition Angel Capital heads the market at $3.50, with Point And Shoot and Sepals sharing second place at $6 ahead of Wednesday’s final acceptances.
