Rising nine-year-old Comfort Me continues to impress, with eight wins and over $1.6 million in prizemoney to his name.

The Group 3 winner and three-time Group 1 placegetter lines up in Saturday’s Group 3 Belmont Sprint (1400m), the opening feature of WA’s winter racing season.

Trainer Rhys Radford knows the wide draw makes things tougher against proven talents like West Star and Western Empire, but believes Comfort Me is still firing.

“He’s never taken a backward step throughout his whole life,” Radford told Tabradio.
“Even his attitude at his age, it’s quite remarkable really; every day is the same, he really is a ripper.”

Comfort Me heads to Belmont after a solid third in the Northam Stakes behind West Star and Magnificent Andy.

That run followed modest efforts in the Roma Cup and the Joey, but Radford wasn’t disappointed.

“He’s ticking all the boxes… I couldn’t be happier, just wished we had a better starting point.”

Comfort Me has drawn barrier 20 and will be ridden by Holly Watson.
