Devil Night eyes Golden Slipper after strong form in Victoria

Blue Diamond Stakes winner Devil Night is still in contention for the Golden Slipper, with co-trainer Michael Hawkes confirming the colt has returned to their Rosehill stable.

After finishing ahead of horses who later won the Todman Stakes and Reisling Stakes, Devil Night is now a live contender for the $5 million Golden Slipper next week. Hawkes remains optimistic, noting, “The Melbourne form is definitely holding up.”

With odds of $15, Devil Night is progressing well at the stable, and Hawkes confirmed, “We’ll take him one step at a time but he is a chance of lining up.”

Devil Night has raced exclusively in Victoria, placing second in the Blue Diamond Prelude, but has also trialled in Sydney.

Meanwhile, West Of Swindon, who finished second in the Silver Slipper, will tackle the Pago Pago Stakes next Saturday.

Hawkes also has plans for Randwick Guineas placegetter Swiftfalcon, who is being prepared for the Doncaster Mile, though his participation in the Rosehill Guineas is yet to be confirmed.
