SATURDAY 7 JULY

HEAVY 8   (5.73)      RAIL: +6M

Best: Race 8 No.3 Someday each way

Race 1

Blinkers go on Initialize for the first time and just the step up from 900m to 1050m should help her in the early stages. She shouldn’t have any trouble with the wet conditions. Lord Marmaduke loves the heavy track conditions and if the leaders are struggling the final 100m he will be charging from just in behind them. Killerman’s Run will be looking to run along and is a heavy track winner.

13 – 3 – 7 – 2

Race 2

She might be the value runner here Bold Gypsy as she looks to map well and will appreciate the conditions. The strong rider of Mark du Plessis may just well help her in what looks an even race on paper. Princess Posh will carry top weight but comes here off a good run at Randwick while Foxy Housewife looks well placed and although she has not won on heavy ground she can handle the sting out of the track. Our Beebee can improve in these conditions.

6 – 1 – 7 – 4

Race 3

Unconditional has been impressive in his four career starts and he more or less picks himself here today. There looks nice speed g out of a Commands mare he should love the wet ground and although he has yet to race at the distance he looks as though he will relish it. Red Stina was solid first up and will like the extra distance here as she should also like the heavy surface. Doss is a query on heavy ground although majority of the Sebring progeny get through it.

1 – 9 – 5 – 2

Race 4

Very hard race with the best we could do was narrow the race down to six chances being Honey Toast, Endless Days, Ready For Danger, Skytrek, Denbern and Mornington who comes up from Sydney with solid form but is probably at best on firmer surfaces. Skytrek will have a big weight pull over his main threats with the claim for Stephanie Lacy and having won three times on soft ground has tipped me into his corner. Honey Toast is a class animal and can’t be underestimated but he’ll need to be with 62kg on his back even after claiming 3kg on a heavy track.

6 – 10 – 3 – 1

Race 5

Looks short odds Hallelujah Boy but he does seem hard to beat off his last start win wt Randwick and although the margin was only narrow there was a big space back to third. If there is a query it’s the drop back to the mile but I did hear Cameron Swan the foreman for trainer Kris Lees say the four week break will offset that. Personalised is two from two on heavy tracks and is racing in great heart and looks the danger if there is one.

1 – 7 – 6 – 2

Race 6

Basara turned in an outstanding tough effort last start when she worked for most of the trip yet was only collared late by Envy Of All who had enjoyed a sweet run and goes around at Randwick today as one of the fancied runners. Shesees Everything is first up off two nice barrier trials while Miss Exfactor only needs to repeat her last start when she beat Envy For All at the Sunny Coast. The heavy ground is a big plus in her favour.

6 – 12 – 2 – 1

Race 7

The old tough boy Courtza King is first up having trialled impressively and he always runs well fresh and the heavy ground is just an added bonus. From the draw he should shadow the leading bunch and be looking to run over them late. The big query runner is Qiji Phoenix who came from New Zealand with Donna Logan for the winter of 2017. He resumes following 406 days of the scene and is now prepared by Toby Edmonds. Keep a close eye on the betting for a lead.

7 – 9 – 3 – 1

Race 8

Keen here that Someday will run well even though the 9yo failed first up in a feature race behind Snippet’s Land at the Sunny Coast. He has since trialled in fine fashion and with the rain around he will grow a leg and can bounce back at good odds. The favourite Sabkhat was very tough last start when fighting every inch of the straight before running third and now drops from 57.5kg to 51kg today which will make him hard to run down. Slydini is an honest type that can bob up and with the heavy track and now four runs under his belt he should be ready to fire.

3 – 9 – 11 – 8

Race 9

Ben Currie will saddle up Sword Of Justice who has raced four times this preparation with all the runs being spaced but now steps to a trip I think he will relish and he can handle the wet ground so I expect him to be in the race for a long way. No Annamossity gets gate one and only needs to repeat any of his three runs this campaign to be amongst the spoils. The top have some class so they could surprise.

6 – 3 – 1 – 2
