Ellipsis shines at Canterbury, eyes future stakes races

Bjorn Baker’s training success continued at Canterbury on Monday with Ellipsis, who claimed her second win in four starts. The three-year-old filly by Written Tycoon showed promise in the Exceedance @ Vinery Stud Handicap (1100m), winning first-up.

Ellipsis, racing in the Darby Racing silks, has two potential options for her next start: the Listed Denise’s Joy Stakes (1100m) at Scone, followed by Queensland’s winter races.

Jockey Jason Collett praised her performance, noting her resilience: “That was impressive, and she did it at both ends,” he said. “She came back better, and there are good signs for her.”

Meanwhile, Maison Louis, who won the TAB Handicap (1900m) at $3.20, surprised co-trainer Tom Charlton. The gelding, who has now won three times in five starts, could head to Queensland for the Group 2 Rough Habit Plate (2000m) on May 17.

“He is still learning, but he relaxed well today,” said Charlton. The son of Group 1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m) winner Super Seth is showing promise.
