Jimmysstar eyes more success after All Aged Stakes victory

Ciaron Maher was full of praise for Jimmysstar after his impressive win in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes on Saturday, noting how the sprinter has gone from having a shaky reputation to now having two Group 1 victories under his belt.

Jimmysstar’s connections are now considering a start in the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm on June 1, though it remains uncertain.

“It is a big ‘if’ though,” said Jack Turnbull, Maher’s assistant trainer. “The main thing is that he’s come through the run really well.”

Jimmysstar’s stellar form includes wins in the Oakleigh Plate and the All Aged Stakes, as well as a placing in the William Reid, making him one of the stable’s standout performers.

His victory in the All Aged Stakes earned a Racing and Sports rating of 122. However, Turnbull noted the multiple paths available for Jimmysstar, including a potential Everest preparation later in the year.

Giga Kick is the favourite for the Kingsford Smith Cup at $4.50, with Jimmysstar close behind at $6 in the betting markets.
