Victoria’s thoroughbred channel Racing.com are set to announce respected soccer commentator David Basheer as the station’s new front man for the upcoming spring carnival.

Basheer will replace Jason Richardson who is required as part of the on air team of the channel’s part owner Channel Seven for its free to air coverage.

The football caller well known for his work on SBS has always been a lover of horse racing and according to sources has part-owned a couple of horses and is a keen punter when time permits.

Racing.com have struggled for viewers since its inception so it is important for the network to have a polished professional fronting the spring racing broadcast.

Basheer has not yet been unveiled as the new man but sources close to Epsom road have reported that the governing body Racing Victoria are pleased with the addition believing its important to have an experienced television broadcaster fronting the coverage at such an important time for racing.
