Victory for I Am Me in this Saturday’s Galaxy at Rosehill would bring more than just the $580,000 winner’s purse.
The six-year-old mare was announced on Tuesday night by Inglis as an entry in this year’s prestigious Chairman’s Sale, set for May 8 in Sydney.
Trained by Ciaron Maher, I Am Me is a dual Group 2 winner and has placed twice at Group 1 level. Being a daughter of champion stallion I Am Invincible, she is already highly sought after, but a Group 1 win would only boost her appeal.
After a disappointing 13th-place finish in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate, I Am Me bounced back with a third in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m), and her team is hopeful she can end her campaign on a high.
“She’s the type of horse that every owner dreams of,” said Dynamic Syndications’ Watt.
“Winning the $5 million The Quokka would be the perfect way to cap off an incredible story,” he added.
I Am Me will race in the 1100m Galaxy with Nash Rawiller aboard, carrying 57.5kg. She has drawn the inside alley, and only Mazu and Uncommon James carry more weight in the race.
Trainer Maher will also be represented by Growing Empire (56kg) and Estriella (54.5kg), the latter also a Chairman’s Sale entry.
