Trainer Sara Ryan is considering a Queensland winter carnival campaign for Warwick Farm winner Is It Spectacular, but first, a potential stakes race in Melbourne is on the cards.

Ryan believes the two-year-old, a son of Derby winner Dundeel, has plenty of natural talent and will continue to improve as he stretches out in distance.

Is It Spectacular, making only his second start on Wednesday, overcame a green performance to narrowly defeat the more experienced Godolphin colt Gaeilge in the Find Your Ozzmosis @ The Chase Handicap (1300m).

“I was half-thinking about the Anzac Stakes down in Melbourne in three weeks’ time, but his ultimate goal will be up in Queensland,” Ryan said.

The Listed Anzac Day Stakes (1400m) is at Flemington on April 25, while the Brisbane winter carnival races will take place in May and June.

Is It Spectacular, racing outside the leader, wore down Gaeilge in the final stages, with jockey Chad Schofield noting the horse would benefit from cover in future races.

“He’s a lovely horse. Still very raw but gives a quality feel,” Schofield said.
