Jokers Grin has delivered a spectacular victory in the $5 million Kia Quokka (1200m) at Ascot, securing the win for trainer Bernie Miller in front of a massive crowd.
The four-year-old son of Maschino, with jockey Patrick Carbery aboard, surged to his seventh win from just 10 starts, showing incredible late power. The victory marked Miller’s 68th career win and was a dream come true for the trainer. “How can you put that into words? It’s just a dream come true,” Miller said.
Carbery, who settled Jokers Grin at the rear of the field after drawing barrier 13, produced a breathtaking run to win by 0.17 lengths. “Whatever happened today, you know that he’s still on the way up, he’s still maturing,” Carbery said.
Jokers Grin, representing Ladbrokes’ slot, defeated Headwall ($6.50) and outsider Generosity ($51) to claim the huge prize.
Miller confirmed that Jokers Grin will now head to the paddock before targeting the Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) during The Pinnacles carnival at Ascot later this year.
