Ka Ying Rising claims Hong Kong’s Triple Crown with another dominant win

For the second time in as many attempts, the world’s best sprinter Ka Ying Rising claimed Hong Kong’s Triple Crown, continuing his remarkable career.

At just four years old, Ka Ying Rising triumphed in the Group 1 Chairman’s Sprint Prize (1200m) at the prohibitive odds of $1, extending his record to 13 wins in 15 starts. His future goals include The Everest and another crack at the rich treble next season.

“He’s just getting better and better. What more can you say?” said jockey Zac Purton.

The gelding won by 2¼ lengths, easing down after a blistering turn of foot in the Sha Tin straight, replicating the trifecta from the Group 1 Hong Kong Sprint (1200m) four months earlier, where only one length separated him from his rivals.

Trainer David Hayes believes Ka Ying Rising has improved by four or five lengths since that previous race, predicting a “golden year” next season.

“He had the perfect prep and the perfect season,” Hayes said.

Ka Ying Rising’s victory further solidified his position as one of the world’s best sprinters.
