Lady Shenandoah dominates in Light Fingers Stakes

Lady Shenandoah has set the stage for a thrilling clash with unbeaten stablemate Autumn Glow after her impressive victory in the Light Fingers Stakes at Randwick.

Her 1-1/4 length win over Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot was commanding, with the manner of victory suggesting there’s more to come.

Ridden by Zac Lloyd, the Chris Waller-trained filly, the $2.40 favourite with betting sites, displayed an effortless stride, leaving Lloyd impressed by her efficiency.

“She just glides over the ground. It feels like ‘game over’ when she turns the bend,” Lloyd said. “It’s a pleasure to ride her.”

Lady Shenandoah, who won the Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) in the spring, will target the Surround Stakes (1400m) in two weeks.

Stablemate Autumn Glow is also set for the Surround Stakes, with Charlie Duckworth saying a trial this week would determine if they could race against each other.

While Duckworth wouldn’t predict a winner, he praised Lady Shenandoah’s performance, noting her powerful acceleration after a beautiful ride from Lloyd.

Meanwhile, Godolphin’s Inhibitions ($13) claimed the Triscay Stakes (1200m) for mares, defeating the previously unbeaten Clear Thinking ($4 fav) and stablemate Commemorative ($4.40). Trainer James Cummings believes both mares have more to give. “I’ve got a feeling there’s a little bit more ahead of both of them,” he said.
