Lindsay Park has decided not to use the All-Star Mile wildcard secured by Marble Arch at Flemington on Saturday, opting instead to target Sydney with the in-form mare.

The Per Incanto mare claimed her first Group 2 win in the Blamey Stakes (1600m), earning a spot in this Saturday’s $2.5 million All-Star Mile at Flemington. However, trainer Ben Hayes believes the Group 1 race came a bit too soon.

Hayes, along with his brothers Will and JD, is now focusing on the $1 million Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill next week.

“Marble Arch pulled up not quite 100 percent to back up, she’s absolutely fine, but she just felt the run a little bit,” Hayes explained.

“Saturday was a career peak for her, and we’re leaning towards heading to Sydney for the Coolmore.”

Hayes believes the mare would be very competitive in the Coolmore against the top fillies and mares in Sydney.

While Marble Arch won’t take her All-Star Mile spot, stablemate Rise At Dawn will race in the event after securing his entry with a win in the Listed The Elms at Flemington on February 15.

“Rise At Dawn could follow the path of Mr Brightside, who ran fourth in his first All-Star Mile before going on to win two Doncaster Miles,” Hayes said.

“If he can get into the race with a light weight (51kg), it would be exciting.”

Mr Brightside, the seven-year-old who won the 2023 All-Star Mile, will also race this weekend. He enters off a C F Orr Stakes second and Futurity Stakes win, and Hayes is hoping for a better barrier draw.

“I’d love for him to get a barrier where he can sit back, as I think he’s better chasing,” Hayes added.

Mr Brightside is the $2.80 favourite for the All-Star Mile, with Another Wil ($4) and Tom Kitten ($5) the next in line, while Rise At Dawn is a $26 chance.
