Trainer John O’Shea is keeping the lid on expectations for progressive colt Livin’ Thing, despite lofty ambitions from his ownership group—including former trainer Anthony Cummings.
Cummings, known for boldly placing young talent, co-owns the Yes Yes Yes colt, who lines up in Saturday’s TAB Handicap (1100m) at Rosehill.
“One of the partners is adamant he could be an Everest horse,” O’Shea joked.
“I don’t know if he is quite at that level, but we’re hoping he can go through his grades.”
Livin’ Thing has won three of six starts and impressed with his latest victory on Randwick’s Kensington track.
“He was very impressive the other day. Much better on top of the ground,” O’Shea said.
With 56kg after Jace McMurray’s claim and a favourable draw, O’Shea is hopeful of another strong showing.
Meanwhile, Quietness has been scratched from the McKell Cup (2000m), while Captain Amelia and Awesome Wonder will represent the stable at Rosehill.
Awesome Wonder stretches to 2400m in the Stayer’s Cup, building toward the Grafton Cup (2350m) next month.
