Sale Oh! Sale Oh! cried out Jonathan Darcy at 1.55pm on Monday 9 April in announcing the staging of the Australian Easter Yearling Sale at the new Riverside Stables, adjacent to Warwick Farm Racecourse.

‘Mouth-watering” is how William Inglis & Son’s National Bloodstock Manager Jonathan D’Arcy described the Easter catalogue which continues to sell on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 April.

“There is no doubt that Australasia’s leading breeders are offering a mouth-watering array of sensational young horses for buyers to select from at Easter this year,’’ D’Arcy said. “The sire strength is something to behold and the types we will see in the Riverside sale ring are simply mind blowing.”

An elite catalogue of 534 well credential yearlings with 38 juveniles who are directly related to Group 1 winners Catchy, Starspangledbanner, Mighty Boss, Shoals, Buffering, Mossfun, Lankan Rupee, Flying Artie, Press Statement, Sebring, English, Shooting To Win, The Quarterback and Lucia Valentina.

There is the progeny of 31 Group 1 winning mares including Peggy Jean, Secret Admirer, Amanpour, Go Indy Go, Plucky Belle, Norzita, Sacred Choice, Snitzerland, Bonaria and Steps In Time.

The modern-day sire-of-sires Snitzel is the leading sire with 64 progeny catalogued, with I Am Invincible having 41 yearlings, Fastnet Rock 39, Sebring 34, Redoute’s Choice 23, Pierro 21, Dissident 20, Not A Single Doubt 19, Exceed And Excel 17 and Deep Field with 16 being the in the top 10 stallions.

This Easter catalogue again has an international flavour with three fillies by the Japanese champion Deep Impact, three juveniles by US champion sire Tapit and two by the British champion Frankel. Arrowfield Stud is leading vendor with 51 yearlings entered ahead of Coolmore Stud with 39 and 30 from Widden Stud.

Inglis earlier announced that the initial running $2m Inglis Millennium for 2yo’s over 1200m will be held at the Inglis Race Day in February 2019. All yearlings purchased through an Inglis sale ring in 2018 will be eligible for the new race series

The Inglis Sprint for 3yo’s of 1100m will increase to $1million and will be run alongside the Gr 2 Breeders Classic and Gr 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes on this Warwick Farm meeting from 2019.

The new-look $8 million Inglis Race Series will offer a $3m Inglis Triple Crown for 2yo’s to win either or both the $500,000 Inglis Banner 1000m at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day in October 2018; or the $500,000 Inglis Nursery 1000m at Royal Randwick on Villiers Stakes Day in December 2018 as Leg 1.

In Leg 2 the juvenile must win the $2m RL Inglis Millennium of 1200m for 2yo’s at Warwick Farm in February 2019, going onto Leg 3 the $1m ATC Inglis Sires Produce Stakes 1400m for 2yo’s at The Championships, Royal Randwick in April 2019.

This Magnificent Inglis Easter commenced with the 3yo colt Seige of Quebec selling for $1 million to Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott at The Chairman’s Sale for Racing Prospects on Thursday 5 April.

Also on account of James Harron Bloodstock was the Exceed And Excel colt Almighty who sold to Dan Meagher Racing, Singapore for $250,000 and the Snitzel colt Hypnotist to Hong Kong also for $250,000.

The Gr1 Inglis Sires of 1400m followed on Saturday 7 April at The Championships, Royal Randwick and was won by the $81 outsider El Dorado Dreaming, ridden by Damien Lane for Newcastle trainer Benjamin Smith.

Owned and bred by Yevette Pearce, El Dorado Dreaming defeated the Golden Slipper second Oohood by a nose, with Outrageous a length away in third. The winning time was 1:22.10 on a Good 4 track,

A total of 649 Lots have been catalogued for the Australian Broodmare & Weanling Sale on 15, 16 17 April featuring 483 broodmares, many in foal to leading sires Lonhro, Medaglia d’Oro, More Than Ready, Choisir, Hinchinbrook and Vancouver, plus many of Australia’s first season sires.

A total of 166 weanlings are catalogued such leading sires as I Am Invincible, Written Tycoon, Pierro, Brazen Beau, Choisir, Foxwedge, Hinchinbrook, Nicconi, So You Think and Star Witness, plus many first season sires.

The Chairman’s Sale of Breeding Prospects is to be held on Thursday 12 April and will be highlighted by Group 1 winning mares Savaria in foal to Exceed and Excel, In Style positive to I Am Invincible and Headway in foal to Written Tycoon in a 198- strong catalogue.

Also 38 Stakes winning mares include Amberio in foal to American Pharoah, Brugal Reward, Gypsy Diamond positive to I Am Invincible, Iggimarcool to Capitalist and Sebring Sally in foal to American Pharoah. There are stallion shares available in the likes of I Am Invincible, Sebring, Hinchinbrook, All Too Hard and Nicconi, plus 39 weanlings.
