Race 1

9 – 3 – 10 – 8

Going to stick with DREAM CHILD who is getting near a win following four terrific career starts resulting in three placings. She stretches to the 1200m for the first time which I think is a bonus hoping the tempo is slightly easier. Glamour Cruise is coming off a five week freshen up and from an inside draw she should punch up and lead and give a big sight. Chris Waller’s pair Charge and Altair are both players who should both get nice runs in behind the leading bunch.

Race 2

4 – 2 – 3 – 6

Tricky little race with probably five winning chances in the eight horse field. I’ve ended up with OMINECA who debuted seven weeks ago when third behind Sondelon who progressed to better grade racing very quickly after that race. The stablemate Given Time has run two solid races at his two starts and looks as though the mile will really suit while Savvy Ken is stepping out for the first time for Clare Cunningham having previously been trained in Victoria by David Brideoake. He has some solid form making him a player here. The fav and the third of Chris Waller’s Semper Fidelis has plenty of ability but is becoming costly having started favourite at her past starts and is yet to win.

Race 3

4 – 1 – 6 – 8

GRAND FINALIST was outstanding last start on a solid tempo and if he can get control here which I think he can he will take plenty of running down. This race looks an easier assignment than last start and with the claim for the apprentice he will actually carry 1.5kg less than last run. I think the only danger is Higher Ground who I think is on a Queensland Derby path following his very good effort first up when closing to be beaten just on three lengths. The step to the ,mile is ideal but it’s just a matter if Grand Finalist gets enough pressure up front to allow Higher Ground to run over him and the others.

Race 4

9 – 1 – 8 – 2

The horses that ROYAL ADVANCE beat on debut at Hawkesbury were nothing to write home about but I was impressed with his debut performance and that the further they went the further he smashed them. Blinkers have been added today to sharpen him up and the extra 200m is another added bonus. I expect him to run to the front and to take plenty of running down. Toga Picta was disappointing last start at Sandown when getting every possible chance but he gets the blinkers today and has switched to Sydney which may spark him up. Destiny’s Hero is at double figure odds but off his first up run at Hawkesbury behind Schubert he can pop up here without surprising.

Race 5

5 – 2 – 9 – 1

ART OF EXCELLENCE was very good first up when running third here a fortnight ago and now from a perfect gate and an extra 100m I think he can get the job done. He is second up when he races well and with the flyer Kotinos engaged as well as Dortmund Art Of Excellence should get a nice cosy run in behind. I’ve got Dortmund in as the danger who should be cherry ripe following two runs back in this campaign and with the blinkers coming off he should relax that bit better. Bright Future just needs a touch of luck from the wide gate to be right amongst the spoils.

Race 6

3 – 5 – 10 – 7

The 3yo MARSUPIAL looks the best of the afternoon in what I think is only a moderate benchmark 80 midweek event. Marsupial resumed with a cracking second to I Am Excited in the Spark Of The Life 1100m before looking a little disappointing when narrowly beaten at Gosford on a heavy track over 1200m. He drops back to 1100m and from a soft draw he should just stalk the leaders and when Kerrin McEvoy pushed the go button he should explode. Cockles and Eminent Duke look the value for the exotic players.

Race 7

2 – 8 – 6 – 3

Open race but I’ve settled on PEACOCK who I am hoping can lead like he did last start at Rosehill and pinch a break on straightening and hold on. His best runs have been when let stride and get into a rhythm so hopefully that happens. His tablemate and favourite Philosophy is resuming and is a winner of two from three fresh. She has been readied for this assignment with three barriers trials. Arancini was very good winning here last start and a repeat of that will have him right amongst it again.

Race 8

5 – 1 – 10 – 11

RESIN returned from 16 months off the racing scene and is making up for lost time with a second and two dominant wins. Make no mistake it’s another step up here but she is on an upward spiral and getting better each time she steps out. She will roll forward and settle handy although this a few other speedsters engaged here but it’s a straight run from the 1200m to the home turn. Yulong Xingsheng is dropping back hugely in grade from the group 1 Surround Stakes to midweek fillies and mares benchmark 76 so you’d have to think she is going to play a role. Her two runs this preparation have been ok when you consider the grade so keep safe here.
