Ascot trainer Martin Allan has high hopes new stable addition Takemehometonight can get off to a flying start in the Tabtouch-Better Your Bet Maiden (1000m) at Belmont Park on Wednesday.
The I’m All The Talk filly makes her debut for Allan after six starts for previous trainer Justin Warwick and is bursting to break through after consecutive seconds this campaign.
At Pinjarra the three-year-old ran strongly behind Pink Carats who went on and franked the form with a subsequent runner up finish to talented filly Vane Tempest.
Last start at Belmont Takemehometonight jumped quickly and led before being cut down by Stylax who took advantage of a rails run inside the final 150m.
Allan, looking to post his first Belmont win this season, said he was happy to have Takemehometonight join his stable.
“I’ve given her a couple of gallops and I like what I have seen so far,” Allan told The Races WA.
“She has an enormous turn of foot and I reckon she has a bit of ability.
“She ran a really nice race behind Vane Tempest who is quick.
“She is getting used to her new environment and I’m learning more about her.
“I will lead the race tactics to Chris but I don’t mind if she takes a sit rather than lead.
“I think she can win, but I have respect for Somethingready.
“She ran a pretty nice race the other day.”
Takemehometonight has drawn barrier three for Chris Parnham. She is $2.70 with Tabtouch.
Somethingready is $3.50 and Missile $4.
Allan is also bullish about Le Grand Risque backing up from his Pinjarra maiden win and giving the Free Entry To Belmont Park Handicap (1700m) a big shake.
At just his second career start and first-up off a winning trial, the Dick Turpin four-year-old came storming home from the rear to grab a short neck victory.
Allan says there is further improvement to come from Le Grand Risque and he should appreciate stepping up from 1200m to 1700m.
“He hardly had a blow after the race and came back with a heart rate of 85,” Allan said.
“I thought it was a super win on a heavy 8 and I think he can go on with it.
“He’s still learning and there is heaps of improvement left in him.”
Le Grand Risque, drawn in barrier eight, is currently $8.50 in Tabtouch markets. Chris Parnham maintains the ride.
Cape Reign can bounce back in the Western Racepix Handicap (1400m), according to Allan.
After winning on his return at Pinjarra, the four-year-old faded to last after he was sent forward to lead at Belmont last month.
“He was ridden upside down,” Allan said.
“He’ll be ridden cold on Wednesday.
“He’s a nice horse and is working well.”
Cape Reign is rated a $16 chance.
