A strong endorsement from jockey Kerrin McEvoy has prompted Arctic Glamour’s team to press on to the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara at Eagle Farm.
Trainer Sterling Alexiou was hesitant after the mare’s unplaced run in the Dane Ripper Stakes (1300m), but McEvoy urged them to run.
“I gave Kerrin every option not to run her there and he thought we’d be crazy not to,” Alexiou said.
“He thought there was quite a bit of merit to her run… on a track where you couldn’t make much ground.”
The race was Arctic Glamour’s first since March, and Alexiou expects her to improve second-up.
Though winless since her Listed triumph over Joliestar more than 18 months ago, she’s placed in three Group 2s, including the Golden Pendant over 1400m.
“She has got an abundance of ability on her day,” Alexiou said.
The stable also saddles up General Salute in the W J Healy Stakes (1200m), with Alexiou tipping him as a “major player” following a sharp trial.
