MATTY wins this on determined chase behind the slick and talented Sprightly Lass resuming. Form obviously stood up and this no harder. Surprised if beaten. The $2.30 went after Dance With Fontein scratching ran last night but you don’t go broke backing winners. GIBBON has no recent wins but is a useful short courser. ROCKETS RED GLARE has advantage on home track where 2/3 and a 2nd.
SUGGESTED: MATTY starts the day safely for punters.
Race 2: 5-2-1-6
Worst race of the day to play here. Don’t want to back what we know so going BRIMHAM ROCKS on Oz debut but with no real reason other than 4/11 profile. VELOX can turn over Wangaratta Cup defeat to ANGELOLOGY at the weights, CHARLEVOIX may need one more but then this is skinny.
SUGGESTED: Follow any more positive move for BRIMHAM ROCKS, otherwise save powder.
Race 3: 1-6-2-3
LOUIE THE LEGEND had blinkers on 2nd time out at Pakenham 1400m and accounted for then $1.5 favourite GHEEDAA. No fluke. (PEACEFUL SOLUTION was 4th there at $81). A FIGHTING FURY looks suited 1500m. MUSWELLBROOK also ready for 1500m.

Race 4: 5-8-2-9
FREEHEARTED goes to a BM78 here after solid (albeit allegedly lame) placing BM70 Mornington last time – down 2kg after claim. SO FAR SOKOOL resumes, graduated quickly last campaign. Obviously talented and respected. JALAN JALAN has prepped up well for this return and is a winner this track – plus.
SUGGESTED: Stay with favourite FREEHEARTED.
Race 5: 4-7-1-5
Always been a fan of MY PAISANN and better 1200m fresh than when good 1000m Ballarat last campaign. Always goes around decent odds and think profiles well here. Even race, happy to play there. BRAHMOS will land on speed and hard to toss 1200m here. RICH LUCK has fantastic fresh record. Has trialled well. Yes. BOB OF THE HEAD on home track goes in.

Race 6: 3-1-8-6
Challenging race and working Tassie v WA form. Liked I’M WESLEY profile into excellent Flemington 2nd to Secret Agenda so that obviously hits you in face. Worried about Weiry with FIRST AMONGST EQUALS – he also has STELLAR COLLISION – goes in. LUCKY LIBERTY is a winner only start here (easier yes) and Newmarket run was adequate. HUSSON EAGLE has to prove at 1200m but think this right race.
SUGGETED: Believing in I’M WESLEY.
Race 7: 11-6-3-4
Huge fan of KINGS WILL DREAM. This will win. Out from 1800m – no worries, this is what it wants, now a grinder or tormentor of opposition. Not much to dislike about it. BONDEIGER (stablemate) is going well – 3 wins in a row says that – but top pick is more progressive, CISMONTANE will make own luck. GALLIC CHIEFTAN (also Weir) has found winning form (in easier Stony Creek Cup) but runs behind stablemate here.
SUGGESTED: KINGS WILL DREAM wins again.
Race 8: 4-8-2-13
Weir has key hand for mine and going PERUGGIA who has found this trip range ideal, last two wins 1600m BM70 proving that (and is a 75 rater). PARSIFAL (66) is a rising talent, SAVAHEAT (75) resumed in great style Bendigo and proven Listen company Adelaide in useful race. SHEEZDASHING (62) best of fillies).
SUGGESTED: Follow Weir (yes) – PURIGGIA suited here.
Race 9: 6-3-5-8
Looks ideal for OUR PINKY BLINDERS, just beaten by in form Call Me Handsome strong race Ballarat. This suits. MA JONES has Spanish Reef form, that read well doesn’t it. HEPTAGON is having first try at trip and beat KAZIO last time, both in mix.
SUGGESTED: Close out a punter’s night with OUR PEAKY BLINDERS.
