Race 1

11 – 3 – 5 – 6

There is no doubt it’s a big jump from a midweek Warwick Farm meeting to a listed carnival race but I am confident TARABAI is a promising filly ready to take that leap. He latest win was full of merit when coming from the back and running over her opposition. The wide gate will just add some extra value for us punters. I Am Excited is low flying and is shooting for three wins on the trot and from a perfect gate she should stalk the speed here. She has yet to race on wet ground in her career but the majority of the Snitzel breed gets through it. Brave Song looks the big value for me as he drops back from the Hobartville Stakes where he took on the likes of Kementari.

Race 2

7 – 2 – 11 – 6

I am pretty sure this mare NETTOYER has a big race win in her and if all goes her way here she can record her first group victory. She has raced once on heavy ground for a ten length win and with the rain around in Sydney she looks well placed. Last start it was a horror show as she ran third yet should won with ease. I like her as a horse but she’s at rock bottom odds at $2.9. The Melbourne visitor Consommateur gets barrier one and Hugh Bowman on board and is a winner of two from three second up plus a winner of two from two on heavy ground so she has a few positives. The jump from 1400m to 1900m with a three week break and a trip to Sydney are the queries. I always thought Domed was good enough for this level so don’t underestimate here especially with a bit of speed expected.

Race 3

5 – 6 – 2 – 7

PATRICK ERIN arrived in Australia from New Zealand having won 10 of his 21 starts and was passable first up when sixth a fortnight ago. He was well supported on that day and although he had every chance I think that run will have helped him plus the wet track expected at Rosehill is a huge bonus with five of his career wins coming on soft ground. Alward has been unbelievably unlucky at both runs this preparation and on a firm track I think he would win and win easy but the softness of the surface is a big worry. Lord Fandango is up from Melbourne and drops in grade having raced in the group 1 Australian Cup last start.

Race 4

1 – 4 – 6 – 8

GAILO CHOP looks a monty to me off his outstanding Melbourne form that has included a dominant win in both the group 3 TS Carlyon Cup and the group 2 Peter Young Stakes and a top effort when narrowly beaten last start in the group 1 Australian Cup. He will roll forward here and could lead but will probably sit on the hammer of Classic Uniform and with a rain affected track which he has won six races on he will go on by and win. Prized Icon I think is the danger who should be cherry ripe now following four runs back and the step up in trip looks ideal.

Race 5

4 – 6 – 1 – 2

Nothing more to say than the great mare WINX will be winning again. Her win last start in the group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes was awesome and there is no reason why she won’t do the job again here. Hugh Bowman returned to the saddle on Thursday booting home a few winners following a recent stint on the sideline so all is ready to go. Kementari is the boom 3yo having a shot at the title which is great for racing. She is great chance to run second along with Happy Clapper who returned in super order winning the group 1 Canterbury Stakes first up.

Race 6

8 – 1 – 9 – 2

DÁRGENTO is a classy 3yo who I think will relish the 2000m and with Bowman back on board he looms as a major player. His run when third in the Hobartville stakes 1400m behind Kementari was outstanding and from a bad barrier with an apprentice on board his effort in the Randwick Guineas was solid. A big field here should ensure a genuine speed giving him his chance to be in the major spoils. The Victoria Derby winner Ace High is the benchmark and has done nothing to suggest he isn’t the one to beat with three solid runs this preparation. If there is a worry it’s his poor form on wet ground albeit he did hit the line first up this campaign of soft footing over 1200m. Villermont caught the eye in the Australian Guineas when finishing fourth and looks a bit of value to me especially having drawn a perfect barrier.

Race 7

5 – 15 – 8 – 2

I have always had a nice rap on PERFORMER since he won the Breeders Plate back in October last year. He returned winning the Canonbury stakes albeit narrowly before he and Hugh Bowman parted company in the Todman Stakes. He has since trialed with the blinkers on and he looked very sharp. Seabrook really made us Sydneysiders sit up and take notice when she sat deep throughout the Sweet Embrace Stakes yet found another gear to gun down Fiesta and some handy fillies. From reports at Rosehill her work last Saturday was as good a work by any 2yo in past few seasons. Damien Oliver goes back on board and one thing we know about Olly he can handle the pressure cooker when it comes to the big races. Sandbar made me sit up and take notice last Saturday when narrowly defeated by Written By. He is a strong son of Snitzel that has held his condition well and if the rain comes I am confident he will love it. He is probably a trifecta player but if the track comes up soft or worse he becomes a major player for mine.

Race 8

13 – 2 – 5 – 3

Keen on VIRIDINE here following his very good first up effort when fourth to Redzel at Randwick in the Challenge Stakes over the flying 1000m. The extra 100m here will help and the speed looks genuine enough to allow him to be charging over them in the run home especially with only 50kg on his back. Jungle Edge is flying and the more rain the merrier so don’t leave him out as he will race on speed and give a kick. English was ok first up and with the blinkers going on you cam expect a sharp improvement. In Her Time is a quality sprinter and the mail from the hunter region is she is flying.

Race 9

3 – 4 – 10 – 14

SUGAR BELLA looks the one to beat coming here off an outstanding win last start in the Wenona Girl when making up many lengths in the last furlong. She has the ability to race handy if she wants and with the sting out of the surface not likely to pose any issues she is the one the others have to beat. Miss Que has taken some huge steps of late and has to be considered a player off her second last start to Sugar Bella. Tulip is a quality filly and will appreciate this grade and taking on the girls after clashing against all comers last start in the group 1 Canterbury Stakes.
