One of Australia’s richest earners, Mr Brightside, could head west for The Pinnacles later this year.

The Lindsay Park team of Ben, Will and JD Hayes has entered the star galloper for the $1.5 million Group 3 The Gold Rush (1400m) at Ascot on December 13.

Ben Hayes said the decision would depend on how Mr Brightside performs in the Champions Mile (1600m) at Flemington on November 8 and possibly the C F Orr Stakes (1400m) a week later.

“We’re leaving it open to travel. We’re not 100 per cent committed,” Hayes said. “There’s a lot of water to go under the bridge.”

A Perth campaign could help maintain Mr Brightside’s fitness heading into autumn, with Hayes noting the trip could “bring horses on.”

Lindsay Park has also nominated Evaporate, War Machine, Arkansaw Kid, Apulia, Alenquer, Here To Shock and Marble Arch for the Perth carnival.
