Jamie Mott is full of confidence heading into Saturday’s $1 million Thoroughbred Club Stakes, where My Gladiola drops back to fillies grade after a brave Coolmore run.
The John McArdle-trained filly finished just 2¼ lengths behind Tentyris in the Coolmore Stud Stakes and now looks perfectly placed over 1200 metres at Caulfield.
“She’s a good-doing filly – a big, strong thing that has always bounced out of her races really well,” Mott said.
“When this race was put on and was worth a million bucks, if she pulled up well out of the Coolmore they were always going to have a look at it, and she has come out of the Coolmore really well. She’s going there 100 percent.”
My Gladiola has six top-two finishes from seven starts, including wins in the Blue Diamond Preview and Cap D’Antibes Stakes.
Drawn barrier one again, Mott expects a favourable run.
“We know she’s going to get a good cushy run. We just need a bit of luck getting out,” he said.
She opened the $2.15 favourite ahead of Inkaruna, drawn in gate seven.
