Parnham stable suffers double blow as stars sidelined for winter

Neville Parnham has confirmed both Bustler and September Born will miss the remainder of the winter carnival, in a frustrating turn for the stable.

September Born, a rising star who claimed the Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m) and was runner-up in the Listed Belgravia Stakes (1200m), has been sent to the paddock with bruising on a bone.

“He’s going to the paddock… it wasn’t worth pursuing,” Parnham told Racing WA.

Bustler, meanwhile, was underwhelming in the Belmont Sprint (1400m) and Hyperion Stakes (1600m), despite promising lead-up work.

Parnham suspects a unique issue at Pinjarra: “He hit his front joint… he doesn’t seem to like Pinjarra too much.”

Both horses will now be aimed at Perth’s summer carnival.

Parnham may still have a contender in Saturday’s Raconteur Stakes with God’s Gate, who was game when second at Pinjarra over 1300m last start.

“He toughed it right out… that’s the best I’ve seen him finish a race off,” Parnham said.
