Unbeaten colt Private Harry is gearing up for his first Group 1 challenge in The Galaxy at Rosehill, with trainer Nathan Doyle confident the three-year-old is primed for the 1100m feature race on Saturday.

The colt has remained unbeaten across his four starts, and is the early favourite to keep his winning streak alive in the handicap conditions event.

Doyle has been targeting The Galaxy for Private Harry since his victory in the $3 million Magic Millions Sunlight 3YO Plate (1100m) at the Sunshine Coast in January.

The trainer is optimistic about his colt’s preparation, which has included two barrier trial wins. Doyle believes Private Harry will be well-prepared for the race, saying, “He didn’t have long off, just 10 days,” and that the colt is “more forward than a horse that’s normally first-up.”

Private Harry’s standout performance in the Magic Millions race, where he defeated last year’s Golden Slipper winner, Lady Of Camelot, has bolstered Doyle’s confidence. He also pointed to Private Harry’s strong form, citing his dominant win at Hawkesbury.

The trainer believes The Galaxy is the perfect race to test the promising sprinter, with Doyle adding, “With no weight on his back we feel it’s the right race and he’ll be going to the race in terrific order.”

The Galaxy is one of five Group 1 races on Saturday’s Rosehill program, alongside the Golden Slipper, George Ryder Stakes, Ranvet Stakes and Rosehill Guineas.
