Bjorn Baker will roll the dice with Thunderlips in Saturday’s Listed Winter Stakes at Rosehill, with forecasted rain boosting the gelding’s prospects.

Racing manager Luke Hilton confirmed the four-year-old had pulled up well after his Rosehill win last weekend and would back up alongside stablemate Robusto.

“He has handled backing up before but it’s more so because of the rain affected track we’re going to get,” Hilton said.

“He loves the wet tracks. He went great on a dry track last week and back on a wet track is going to be an advantage to him.”

A Group performer at two, Thunderlips is now delivering on that early promise, winning three of his past four starts—all over the 1400m trip.

Robusto, who failed to beat a runner home in the Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) first-up, returns to Sydney and is expected to improve with a run and better conditions.

A full field of 13 will contest the Winter Stakes, with Thunderlips the $4.80 favourite, ahead of Accredited ($5) and Robusto at $6.
