Reserve Bank eyes Group 1 victory at Moonee Valley

Reserve Bank will aim to add a Group 1 win to his record on the same day his sire, Capitalist, claimed the Golden Slipper in 2016.

Capitalist triumphed in the Golden Slipper at Rosehill, while his three-year-old son Reserve Bank runs for the first time at Group 1 level in the William Reid Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, Reserve Bank has just five career starts and two wins, both in restricted races. However, his second-place finish to stablemate First Settler in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington impressed Price.

“His work at The Valley on Tuesday was good, so we’re giving him his chance to run in a Group 1,” Price said.

Reserve Bank will be second-up after finishing sixth in the Inglis Sprint (1200m) at Flemington. After Saturday, he will head to Sydney for the Group 2 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m) on April 12.

Price believes Reserve Bank’s future could involve trips to Brisbane or Adelaide, depending on his performance.
