BEST BETS:

Race 3             No.2    AKASAKI

Race 7             No.12  DANZIE

Race 1

2 – 4 – 1 – 3

KISSING GAME looks to get the right run today either on the leaders back or even more prominent from barrier one. She was outclassed behind Sasso Corbaro last start but faces an easier task this afternoon. Stella Victoria is still a maiden but has raced well against some handy types in her career thus far. A win isn’t too far away. High Low Bet trialled twice in readiness for this and with Waller kicking her off at the 1400m suggests to me she is a winning chance fresh and he doesn’t want to waste a run.

Race 2

4 – 7 – 8 – 11

ROCKIN’ RUGA was solid on debut behind Al Mah Haha and with that experience under his belt I expect an improved run here. He is likely to find the front quickly and be hard to run down. Ombudsman is the big danger who is sure to appreciate stepping back up to 1400m after dropping back to 1250m last time out when coming from well back. Song And Prayer will need luck from the awkward gate but did enough on debut to suggest she is a player here.

Race 3

2 – 4 – 7 – 6

AKASAKI turns up here off a three week freshen up and drops back a furlong to the flying 1000m which I think he will relish. There should be a solid tempo and I expect Akasaki to stalk that bunch and be hard to hold out in the run home. Gary Portelli has two players here I Can Rock who is second up and usually runs well with a run under his belt and Moccasin Miss who gets gate one and sis sure to appreciate a solid tempo.

Race 4

6 – 8 – 9 – 4

Witches is the one to beat following a brilliant first up win for the Brad Widdup stable at Randwick. She only needs to have held her form and she will take plenty of beating. Just with the fact she is already odds-on I am going to put UNO BEST on top. He comes through the same race as the favourite meeting her 2kg better but the biggest advantage today is that I think Uno Best will get total control up front. Elouera is likely to find the 1200m too short but a big run fresh wouldn’t surprise from this improved mare so include in the quaddie numbers.

Race 5

9 – 11 – 8 – 3

The two clear favourites have come out leaving a more open race. I’ve settled on TAHSIN who turns up here seven weeks after winning the Mudgee Cup in good fashion. He has trialled well recently to keep up to the mark and from barrier one today in a race with no speed on paper he should settle handy and play a major role. Fournette is another who will likely try and race a little closer from barrier two and would only need a repeat of her latest run to be in the finish. Sir Barb, El Novio and Takewing look the next best chances but all are far better when there is a solid tempo.

Race 6

10 – 5 – 8 – 2

NINE ENOUGH was smashed in the betting ring last start and smashed again in the race when running into trouble albeit she would not have won the race anyway. She comes to her home track for the first time, gets barrier one and finds a nice race over I think a better journey of 1300m. It’s a big day for this girl if she is going to live up to the raps on her. Magicaz is an honest galloper who looks well placed here and from an ideal gate is sure to play a big role in the spoils. Hillary Step is a far better galloper when she finds the front and rolls at her own speed and she looks to get total control today and could easily give a big kick around the bend. Vinnie Power is another is solid form and looks well placed in a race of this nature.

Race 7

12 – 2 – 4 – 7

I originally had Travancore on top and he remains a big threat but his latest runs have shown he is at his best when ridden conservatively early and he now finds a race with not much speed to speak of. On the other hand DANZIE is likely to take control of the race from barrier one and get the on-pace favours. He is first up today off the back of two trials the latest where he sent to the front and was able to put big margins his rivals. If Travancore can get a back to follow and be within striking distance he will make it interesting. The other winning hope looks to be Time Out Of Mind who is third up from a five month spell off the back of two very runs this time in.
