Race 1

1 – 3 – 2 – 6

GONGS is on top here following a dominating win on debut and although drawn deep here should be able to roll forward and probably sit outside Carnina or maybe even look for the fence. That said as her current price she looks skinny odds. The big dangers to my eye are the Chris Waller pair of Charge and Orcein. The Zoustar colt Charge did plenty wrong in his only trial but looked to have plenty in the engine while Orcein was very strong late when a closing third to Secret Lady and Plague Stone.

Race 2

2 – 4 – 3 – 6

I’ve no doubt HELIOSPHERE is the best horse in the race but the speed map gives Star Sensation a big chance of holding him out in the charge to the line. Heliosphere was outstanding first up when coming hard late when second to Pretty Fast who was able to win a listed race last Saturday at Doomben by three lengths and I must say did it easy. Just the speed map worries me but I’m banking on class. Star Sensation did plenty of work last start and was only collared late and he looks to find the top a lot easier here. Sparky Lad for me is the only other winning chance and will sit on the hammer of Star Sensation getting the perfect run.

Race 3

2 – 4 – 3 – 7

They have been keen to ride GITAN with cover of late but I’m hoping they allow Josh Parr to be where the horse is happy and that may well be in front. Parr is particularly good on leaders and if he can roll at his own leisure this gelding will take some running down. Divine Unicorn is from the all conquering Matthew Dunn stable and it’s hard to knock his three career runs to date including a last start win at the Gold Coast. Volpe was super duper here last week winning the Highway so it’s hard to leave him out even allowing for the outside barrier. Magic Choir has drawn soft and brings winning form but he will need the track to dry out as he looks best suited on firm footing.

Race 4

3 – 7 – 6 – 1

NOIRE returned from a spell and looked super in winning at Canterbury three weeks ago. The way she attacked the line was the pleasing [art of the race and from a perfect gate here she should get a perfect run and as long as she can wind up I doubt they will hold here out. Fournette got a gem of a ride first up when winning at Goulburn but I still like the fashion she did it and at double figure odds looks good value. Queen Misty comes through a dodgy form race for mine but her effort was solid coming from a mile back and getting held up at the wrong time in the straight. The top two are next in line for me.

Race 5

6 – 5 – 1 – 2

Go the bar, no I am serious this looks a lottery to me. GAMBLER’S BLUES gets the nod simply he has drawn barrier one and I thought toughed it strongly last start when nailed late by Dagny. Impavido has been racing well and I think will appreciate the three weeks between runs. Hogmanay is the class runner but if he jumps cleanly which has been a major issue and can find the top of settle second he will give them a big fright. Carzoff has come back this preparation a lot more relaxed and its showing with three very good runs. He will just need a little luck from the gate.

Race 6

9 – 2 – 7 – 1

FLOW looks very hard to beat going off her first up effort when narrowly beaten here by Redouble. He jumps from a benchmark 80 to a 90 here but in turn drops 4kg and I think finds a perfect race. He will jump and could easily control the race from the jump but at worst will find leaders back. Firsthand is flying and is sure to settle handy enough from a good gate and I’m sure the Hawkes camp has found one of the keys to him which is three weeks between runs. New Universe bounced back to winning form last start in good fashion down in Victoria. Waller has reported he travelled back to Sydney in good fashion. Don’t forget my stable runner meaning a horse I have backed nearly every start it’s had Voilier as it will win again one day and I don’t won’t to miss him.

Race 7

13 – 12 – 11 – 3

It’s funny with BON AMIS winning four on the trot yet it was his defeat that convinced me he is a pretty handy galloper. The leader was speeding along last start while Bon Amis was covering ground and then chanced too late but boy o boy he kept coming. Single Bullet has always been near the top of the tree in his age group so he must be a major player again here. I’d be surprised if one of these two doesn’t get the cash. Test The World are the only other possible winning chance following a super first up effort.

Race 8

14 – 9 – 6 – 2

THE HIPSTER showed his ability when winning on debut a year ago before injury out him on the sidelines. His first up run after twelve months was outstanding when run down late with a big lump on his back. He drops 6kg for this assignment and should jump on the bunny early and give them something to chase. Pipeline was very good first up when second to Best Guess when covering ground and following being scratched last Saturday and then again Wednesday he looks ready to go here. Drachenfels did us a favour last start when arriving right on the line and he is sure to be around the mark again.

Race 9

13 – 14 – 5 – 12

THE AVENGER was very well supported first up and went very ordinary even allowing for the fact not much went his way in the run. Waller thought he knocked up after things went wrong but all in all was on the disappointing side. I’m giving him another chance but I’m hoping he gets luck in the first 100m from the wide gate because if he does look out. Bastia won as he liked first up albeit at Port Macquarie but he had been very competitive in the city last preparation so I assume it was just about an easy kill. He drops 8kg from that race to this. Cellarman won two on the trot then took a big step last start and ran terrific when third here. Just probably needs a touch of luck from the gate. Carluca looks the value runner here coming off a good third behind Cellarman.
