Saluted eyes interstate Stakes race after Moonee Valley win

The Robbie Griffiths stable may take Saluted interstate following her impressive all-the-way victory in the Evergreen Turf Handicap (1000m) at Moonee Valley.

After a win at Pakenham on April 10, the filly bounced back to her preferred distance on Saturday. Stable representative Adrian Joyce mentioned that a Stakes race in either Brisbane or Adelaide could now be on the cards for Saluted.

“We’ll have to have a look and see, whether we go to Brisbane or Adelaide, but she’s pretty good this filly,” Joyce said. “So that’s what we will try and do now, find a Stakes race.”

Ridden by Jye McNeil, Saluted ($2.90) secured a 2-½ length win over Alzaro ($18), with the $1.80 favourite All Pink finishing third. McNeil, unbeaten on the filly, noted the wet track posed a challenge but praised her performance.

“Today, she was more relaxed when she found the front and that was only going to help her be stronger late,” McNeil said. “Her future certainly looks bright.”

The Griffiths stable also celebrated an early two-state double when Legacy Bound won the Group 3 Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville.
