Shane CIurleo’s Tatts Tiara preview & best

Tattersall’s Racing Club @ Doomben Saturday, 23 June 2018

Rail Position: 3.5 metres Entire Course.

Track Condition: Good 4

Weather: Fine

The last of the Group 1’s on the Australian racing calendar for 2017-18, with the fillies and mares fighting it out in the G1 Tatt’s Tiara. A strong support card with Group and listed races, should make for a good days racing.

Best Bet:

Keen to make my main play R6 N4 ANTON EN AVANT on an Each Way basis

Race 1

Looks decent speed on paper, which seems to give 2 BARE NAKED LADY the perfect run in transit. Usually weary of restricted sales races as form lines, but the win was good last time and has been supported early.  8 MALAHIDE won on debut against the older horses in a Gold Coast maiden, doing it with ease. The competition may have not been much, but she was dominant and can measure up her against her own age.  She looks to get back a touch from the gate, the speed up front should suit, so looking for her to be the win getting home over the top late.

Numbers: 8 – 2 – 1 – 4

Bet: EACH WAY 8 MALAHIDE

Race 2

4 GRANNY RED SHOES has come up very prohibitive odds, but she has the score on the board. Her last 2 runs have suggested the 1350m won’t be an issue, and she is the obvious horse to beat.  5 VICTORY TOAST is a horse I have share in, and she is nice filly who should be no issue at the trip. She has blinkers first time and will race on speed and ran a good race.

Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 6

Bet: WIN 4 GRANNY RED SHOES (+$2)

Race 3

The Battle of the Bush final, for the country gallopers and their connections on the big Group 1 day.  Impossible to do the form as they are all coming off non tab runs. Turnover won’t be great etc, but I think it’s a great initiative and the bush participants deserve a crack at the big money on a big day. My selections are basically a hail Mary, but I’m going with 14 GO GET SUM for the Toowoomba combination of Phyllis Kalinowski and Nathan Evans.

Numbers: 14 – 12 – 13 – 10

Bet: only for a small interest 14 GO GET SUM E/WAY

Race 4

Can see the last 200m shaping up with 4 NO AMMOSSITY peeling around leaders heels and kicking clear, with 14 OUR BEEBEE storming home late.  I’ve been keen to see 14 OUR BEEBEE get to the 1350m all preparation and dropping to Class 6 grade is the right grade to have a bet.

Numbers: 14 – 4 – 7 – 13

Bet: EACH WAY 14 OUR BEEBEE

Race 5

11 PROM QUEEN is the interesting runner for me here, and I’m looking to market support as a big guide. First run in QLD from NZ, she sat on speed on ran a game second to Winter Bride in a good effort.  She then had 3 weeks between runs, and headed to the Gold Coast back to 1000m, when a betting drifter, but ran well behind Miss Exfactor and last Saturdays winner Envy Of All. She looks better suited here, and on the strength of her run 2 back is a good each way hope.

Numbers:  11 – 4 – 2 – 1

Bet: EACH WAY 11 PROM QUEEN

Race 6

3 TRADESMAN comes here on the 7 day back up, off a strong Ipswich Cup win. He sat 3 wide the entire and was still too good on the line. Not sure he beat much that day, but they way he did it was good. The 7 day back up from a tough run would normally be a worry, but he is trained by the best. While he looks the horse to beat, I’m happy to play 4 ANTON EN AVANT each way at the price.  He’s 2 runs this campaign where sound, before stepping up to a staying trip and winning at $151 in Group 3 company.  Last start he ran a cracking race and beat all bar SEDANZAR, who was in white hot form, in a race I think was better than the Ipswich Cup.  He looks a very safe play here at the odds.

Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 6

Bet: 4 ANTON EN AVANT

Race 7

At the time of writing, 10 JAMAICAN RAIN was in the market, but reported to be scratched. With her out, I can see SHEISWHATSHEIS bouncing on the lead and giving a sight.  Id like to see 8 OUTRAGED take a forward sot from the gate, and could run a race here at huge odds, if can sit along the fence.  7 NOIRE is the fresh horse on the scene from the all conquering C WALLER yard.  She is third emergency for the Group 1, and if she doesn’t get a run in that, this will be a consolation prize.

Numbers: 7 – 6 – 8 – 2

Bet: WIN 7 NOIRE

Race 8

Ripping Group 1, as you’d expect for the last chance of success at the highest level this season.  2 horses that I’ve been on over the carnival, 4 PROMPT RESPONSE and 10 SAVANNA ARMOUR have drawn well, and from their respective gates should settle close to the speed and get their chance. Both in good form and can’t be dismissed. You can make a case for a number of these, horses like 5 SUPER CASH & 7 MISS ROCK with the Santa Ana Lane form look like they will be in the finish also. One at odds I can entertain is 14 SIRENS FURY. She got along way back from a wide gate last time, before flashing home behind INVINCIBELLA. She can settle in the first 6 or 7 here from the good gate, and with an ounce of luck obtaining a clear run, she can be the one driving at them late. I’m happy to play her at +$20 each way here.

Numbers: 14 – 4 – 5 – 7

Bet: EACH WAY 14 SIRENS FURY

Race 9

A competitive Group 3 to finish the card, and there looks to be good speed here. The race sets up beautifully for 9 TUMBLR, who will be the one finishing hard late. She was good first up, just out speed by track specialist TARZAN at the sunshine coast. She then went to the 1350m second up, and just looked to peak on her run late. She looks much better suited here at 1200m and has the ability to get home over the top late.  5 SPRIGHT looks to improve here from the nice gate, while 15 O’RACHEL although drawn ordinary.

Numbers: 9 – 5 – 15 – 1

Bet: EACH WAY 9 TUMBLR
