Sunshine In Paris retired after trackwork injury ends stellar career

Triple Group 1 winner Sunshine In Paris has been retired after suffering an injury during trackwork on Tuesday morning.

Trainers Annabel and Rob Archibald confirmed the news in a statement after discussions with owners John and Deb Camilleri.

“Our stable star Sunshine In Paris has unfortunately picked up an injury during trackwork this morning,” they said.
“After consultation with her owners, John and Deb Camilleri, and our vets we have decided to retire her with immediate effect.”

The six-year-old mare won seven races, including five at Group level, and earned more than $6 million in prizemoney. She became Invader’s first Group 1 winner when claiming the Surround Stakes in 2023, later adding the Champions Sprint at Flemington and this year’s Doomben 10,000.

A $90,000 Magic Millions yearling, she was later sold for $3.9 million to the Camilleris via James Harron.

Sunshine In Paris retires with seven wins from 17 starts and five placings, amassing $6,067,775.
