Exciting two-year-old colt Tentyris will miss the remainder of the season, with trainers Anthony and Sam Freedman confirming an injury following his win in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) on Saturday.
“After his impressive win in the Todman Stakes, Tentyris was found to be lame. A vet assessment revealed an injury to his left hind leg,” the stable shared on social media.
As a result, Tentyris’ autumn campaign is over, and he will not contest the Group 1 Golden Slipper.
“This is disappointing for the horse and his connections. He’s an exciting colt, and we look forward to seeing him return for the 2025 Spring Carnival,” they added.
Tentyris previously shared victory in the Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) with Shining Smile and narrowly missed winning the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, finishing second by half a head.
He also defeated race-favourite Wodeton at Randwick on Saturday, who is now $5 for the Golden Slipper, alongside Tempted, the winner of the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m).
Anthony Freedman has helped prepare four consecutive Golden Slipper winners, but son Sam is yet to claim the title, finishing sixth with Artorius in 2021 and fourth with Daumier in 2022.
