Co-trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott made key adjustments, with a sharp getaway and the booking of Angela Jones proving crucial.
“She rode him beautifully… she’s got really nice hands on a horse,” said stable rep Neil Payne.
“The problem with this horse is that he’s a bugger at the machines… I was really happy when he jumped and Ang kept pushing forward.”
The $11 chance held a strong position throughout and surged home to beat Ramp It Up ($31) by 1½ lengths, with Apuntar ($6) 2¼ lengths back in third.
Later in the day, Fortunate Kiss ($26) broke through in the Listed Glasshouse Handicap (1400m).
After placings in the Wangoom Handicap and Eye Liner Stakes, the Cranbourne-trained mare finally broke through for Lloyd Kennewell and Lucy Yeomans.
