Half Yours powers to Caloundra Cup win, eyes spring staying features

Emerging stayer Half Yours confirmed his potential with a dominant victory in the Listed Caloundra Cup (2400m), placing himself firmly on a path toward the 2025 Caulfield Cup.

The four-year-old, trained by Tony McEvoy, has raced across three states this prep and capped it with a commanding 4½-length win under jockey Ash Morgan.

“He’s the horse we’d hoped for,” McEvoy said.

“He looks to have a bright staying future.”

Half Yours ($3.50 betting favourite) beat Bear On The Loose ($4.20) with Felix The Scat ($17) further behind in third.

McEvoy confirmed the goal was to lift his rating for spring targets.

“He’ll have a spell now… tick over at the water walker and we’ll map out the next step.”

Morgan added, “He relaxes really well in the run and has an explosive turn-of-foot… there’s not really any ceiling for that.”

The pair also combined with Mr Verse ($4.40) to win earlier on the card.
