Best Bet – Race 1 #8 Boorooj

Value – Race 3 #1 Beretta

Race 1 – 12:50PM Maiden Handicap (1100m)

Nice quality field to start the day on a heavy track and I am pretty keen to see how No. 8 Boorooj has returned this time in. She ran a nice race on debut in The Widden, but I think the recent break has really helped mature this filly. Her recent trial was top class and the pre-post money suggests that she is flying. No. 4 Intuition resumes after running a pretty ordinary race on debut at Wyong earlier this year. His recent trial was quiet so it’s hard to get a guide on how well he is going, but I am happy to respect him because he has plenty of potential. No. 3 Envy Of All has shown good ability in her first prep, but I am a bit worried that she might be at the end of her prep. No. 11 Santa Anita has trialled ok and I think she can run a cheeky race at big odds.

Race 2 – 1:25PM Maiden Plate (1550m)

No. 6 Queen Of Heights ran a nice race fresh and then last start she looked a bit one paced, so the rise in trip should really suit this animal. She should be ready to peak now and this track should be no concern. No. 2 Thai Boxing is racing well, but I am a bit worried that the tight turning track won’t suit his racing pattern.  No. 3 Evanesce has shown good ability this time in and I have to respect her because she is ready to produce her best and barrier three ensures a lovely run throughout. No. 8 Word Games might not have the class to win this race, but she is very fit and barrier one is ideal.

Race 3 – 2:05PM Benchmark 72 Handicap (1900m)

No. 1 Beretta got too far back last start, but I liked the way he found the line against better horses. He will appreciate the drop in class and the rise in trip. If Rachel King can settle him just behind the speed from the good draw than he should be very hard to beat. If  No. 6 Collateral is racing well this time in and he must be respected over the longer trip. Genuine chance. No. 2 The Gavel is a talented horse who is racing well, but the big weight and the awkward draw is a bit of a concern. No. 7 Estikhraaj is a different horse this prep and he will appreciate the longer trip. Watch for him late.

Back the 1 each way

Race 4 – 2:40PM Benchmark 67 Handicap (1250m)

No. 1 Samadoubt comes into this third-up after finishing sixth in a much tougher race at Rosehill last start. This gelding has drawn perfectly in barrier five, gets 3kgs off her back and the drop back in trip is another big tick. No. 7  The Cheetah won his maiden in nice style and he should get every chance to win again from the gun draw. No. 3 Passage Of Time is racing consistently and he does drop a lot in class, but the wide draw is a massive concern. No. 11 Pandeia won well last start and she can repeat that effort with no weight on her back today.

Back the 1 each way

Race 5 – 3:15PM Benchmark 67 Handicap (1550m)

No. 6 Street Pursuit went forward and absolutely blew his rivals away at Kembla last start. This is tougher, but he is bred to love the extra trip and I expect the stable to have him rock hard fit now. He will go forward and be in front for a long way. No. 8 Mate Story is a lightly raced gelding who has shown above average ability in both career starts. He will find this race easier today, but this gelding is going to need a bit of luck from the bad draw. No. 2 Calypso Bay attacked the line strongly after being held up at a vital stage first-up at Wyong. He has won second-up in the past and I think he is a more mature horse this time in. No. 11 Mutarakem ran on well last start and I think he can run another big race today from the lovely draw.

Race 6 – 3:50PM Benchmark 72 Handicap (1100m)

No. 14 Volante beat nothing at Corowa last start, but the way she attacked line late was very impressive. She should strip fitter now and the gun barrier will give her every chance to win again. No. 4 Choice Larga always runs a brave race first-up and his recent trial suggests that he has come back well. This gelding will appreciate the 3kg claim and he has produced some nice runs at this track in the past. No. 6 Allez Chival has been outclassed in both runs back, so just ignore both efforts. She is ready to peak now and she can definitely win this at her best. No. 2 Secret Trail did enough first-up against better company. She needs luck from the draw, but this mare does have some class on her side.

Back the 14 each way

Race 7 – 4:25PM Benchmark 72 Handicap (1250m)

No. 6 Love’s A Fantasy has been very good in both runs back this prep and the rain overnight is a massive tick. The Ryan stable is flying at the moment and I expect them to have this mare ready to produce her best today. No. 8 Queen Misty resumes and has trialled ok. She might be a bit fat first-up, but if she can get some luck than she has the class to be in the finish. No. 3 Shahrazad was outclassed first-up, but I expect a big improvement today and No. 5 Cleeve Hill has to be respected after her last start effort.
