Mid week metropolitan racing heads the Gold Coast for a very competitive 8 race card. Racing on a Good 4 surface with rail out 6.5m from the 1400m to the Winning Post; Out 4m for the remainder of the course.  Think the track will play fair today, and have found a few at Each Way odds.

BEST BET: Each Way Race 7 Number 1 Rolling Roman

Race 1

1 KUTTAMURRA AL is an 18 start maiden who has started fav his last 5 starts, this does look like D-Day for this horse.  In his defence, this is the first time he gets out to 2000m since running 4.5L 6th to MACKINTOSH in the 2016 Rough Habit Plate at Group 3 level. He worked wide on speed last start and wasn’t totally disgraced and the run before that was a total forgive. With the blinkers off and nose roll going on, he can get a nice run just off the speed and out plug them to the line. 8 AURORA ROSE is the obvious danger, doesn’t represent any value at $1.90 but will be on speed and hard to beat. 9 WHAT DO YOU THINK is a 3 yr old filly with a bit of upside, who was seen hitting the line well last time. A big step up in trip here but gets J Lloyd and looks a chance also. 7 TIZABEE is a consistent mare who’s never far away.

Numbers 1 – 8 – 9 – 7

Suggested Bet: Small 1 x 2 Each Way 1 KUTTAMURRA AL

Race 2

8 SAFE HARBOUR was an eye catching run at the Sunny Coast last start and looks a very good chance here. She was slow away then trapped wide, but continued to power through the line when finishing a close up 4th. Hopefully Jeff Lloyd can begin well on her and settle closer from the nice gate here, and finish too strong. 4 ANGELA”S BEUTY looks like a filly who will appreciate the trip and can figure prominently here.  9 SORNJA has looked the winner 3 of her last 4 starts, only be beaten. She’s a consistent filly and will be in the money again here. Those 3 look clear of the rest and expect them to fight it out.

Numbers 8 – 4 – 9 – 11

Suggested Bet: WIN – 8 SAFE HARBOUR

Race 3

Absolute dart job for the market framers, with the shortest priced horses at $5.50. 7 NO MORE HEIGHTS on top off a good run last start. He was wide and still good through the line last time, and with a touch of luck from the trick gate, he can settle handy and be in the finish. Could make a case for 3, 4,10,11,15 in this but settled on 7 NO MORE HEIGHTS.

Numbers: 7 – 4 – 10 –  3

Suggested Bet: 1 x 2 Each Way 7 NO MORE HEIGHTS

Race 4

6 BROTHERLY SECRET but the writing on the wall that his in for a good prep with a nice first up effort over 1400m. He strips fitter here and maps to get a nice run, the horse to beat. 1 Mr Epic is the class runner here, first up at 1400m with 59kg will certainly test that class edge. He has trialled up well for this, and expect him to be up on speed here and be hard to beat. 8 EL CAMPEADOR is racing well and will be hitting the line late, 7 MORE OF THE ZAIM has been carrying the grandstand in his recent runs in the bush. Hard to line up that form, but at $51 he is a must for multiples.

Numbers: 6 – 1 – 8 – 7

Suggested Bet: WIN 6 BROTHERLY SECRET $4.20

Race 5

4 SIR DONALD drops 5 Kgs for his impressive first up win here last start, when he savaged the line first up over 900m.  The trick today is the wide gate, and with plenty of speed drawn inside him, he will need a good steer from Adam Sewell. The horse has the speed to go forward and be outside the leader, but hopefully he can find cover again like last start and get over the top of them. 8 PRONTEZZA can be the speed here, but she won’t get her own way with the likes of 5 DESTIVA also a speed horse that looks to go forward. 1 LIVE FAST has had a long prep but continues to race well and maps to get a good run. 2 SECRET BLEND brings reasonable Victorian form here, and is one for multiples. 12 MAJELLA MAGIC gets a run now after scratchings, and can run a race from the good gate, off the back of an ok trial.

Numbers: 5 – 8 – 1 – 2

Suggested Bet: 1 x 2 Each Way 4 SIR DONALD $5

Race 6

4 LYRICIST turned in a nice trial for this, when travelling sweetly to the line behind Too Good Too Refuse. She is first up for 12 months, but with a good gate I think her class can carry her home first up. 1 CRIQUETTE will have to overcome a wide gate in what looks to be a difficult speed map for her to overcome and win here. 7 KAPSTAR has been good her last 3 starts, and a chance here again. 8 NILETTE is always around the money and is a must for exotics.

Numbers:4 – 7 – 1 – 8

Suggested Bet: WIN 4 LYRICIST $4.20

Race 7

1 ROLLING ROMAN looks ready to run a big race here. While his last start says he run 6th of 7, it was a run that said he’s looking for the 1400m now after 2 runs back from a freshen up. He maps to get a gun run and he looks a very good Each Way play here. 3 BAROQUE GIRL comes here off an impressive win first up, albeit on a heavy track. 4 LOTHARIO hasn’t missed a place at this trip, and gets his chance again here. 10 BENFICA PRINCESS drops significantly in class here, but is also back in trip from the 2000m Group 2 The Roses, and it would be a good effort to win with that profile here.

Numbers: 1 – 4 – 10 – 3

Race 8

Finding it hard to split 7 SHAMFRANCISCO & 13 CRUISING SPEED here, I think both are off season City Saturday class in Brisbane. 13 CRUISING SPEED gets into this race well on the minimum weight, but has an awkward gate to contend with. Will need a gun ride from Ronnie Stewart, and he can find a spot one off with cover, can certainly win. I have it marginally on top of 7 SHAMFRANCISCO is a speedy mare that has competed at Listed level last start. Expect her to be right on speed here, and if she can get across and race handy she will be hard to beat here.  5,6,9 & 11 can all fill the minors with luck in running.

Numbers: 13 – 7 – 9 – 5

Suggested Bet: Each Way 13 CRUISING SPEED $6.50
