The weather has been good all week, so I expect the track to be in great order, but just keep an eye on the early races to see if there is a leader’s bias forming.

Race 1 – 11.25AM Two-Year-Old Handicap (1200m)

No. 7 Kanga’s Eye come into this first-up after finishing second in the Gimcrack late last year. She has had two nice trials this time in, so she should be ready to go and barrier three ensures a perfect run throughout. No. 11 Intrinsic won like a smart horse on debut at Wyong. She will strip fitter now, drawn well, rises in trip and this filly will appreciate the drop in weight. No. 5 Revenire is a well bred colt who won like a professional horse on debut at Gosford. The stable will have him fitter now and I like that Tye Angland sticks with him. No. 1 Falconic ran some nice races last prep and his recent trial suggests that he has come back bigger and better. Watch for this colt to be attacking the line late.

Race 2 – 12.00PM Benchmark 78 Handicap (1200m)

No. 1 New Universe is a former Kiwi galloper who has been very good in both wins this prep. He should be ready to peak now and I expect Avdulla to settle a bit closer to the speed from the nice barrier. He is short odds, but I am happy to back him because he is a serious animal in the making. No. 4 Mediterranean resumes after doing absolutely nothing at Canterbury late last year, but I am happy to give him another chance because his recent trial was good and this gelding is a very classy horse on his day. No. 8 Insensata didn’t have much luck first up at Warwick Farm, but she still managed to run on strongly for 3rd. Her second-up record is good, distance suits and the Jason Coyle stable is airborne at the moment. Big watch. No. 7 Arbeitsam won his recent trial in nice style and his form last prep was good enough to be competitive in this.

Race 3 – 12.35PM Benchmark 78 Handicap (1500m)

No. 1 Dagny has come back well this prep winning two from three. She is a top class animal who should be ready to peak now, but I am a bit concerned that the big weight might take the zip out of her legs.  No. 3 Wahng Wah did nothing last prep, but her three runs this time in have been very good. She is rock hard fit now, drawn well and the 2kg claim is a big help. No. 5 Labdien ran on well behind Dagny last start and she should be ready to fire after two runs back from a spell. No. 6 Reiby Rampart ran well behind Clearly Innocent at Scone last start and that form is definitely good enough to run a cheeky race in this BM 78 at nice each way odds.

Race 4 – 1.10PM Highway Handicap (1400m)

These Highway races are always very tricky, but I think No. 3 Zamex looks very hard to beat after finishing second behind Niccanova who has since gone on to win a Group 3 at Eagle Farm. He has had a recent trial to keep him ticking over and this stable has a great record when they bring one down the highway. No. 5 Mister Marmalade resumes for his new stable with no recent trials. The distance is a concern first-up, but she has drawn well and the 2kg claim brings her in well at the weights. No. 1 Barbass is ready to show his best now that he is fitter, but the big weight is a bit of a concern. Place chance.  No. 7 Superoo is a consistent horse who could run into a placing if he produced his best.

Back the 3 to win $3.30 bet now

Race 5 – 1.45PM Benchmark 70 Handicap (1500m)

No. 8 Picardy Rose is a lightly raced filly who has shown very nice ability in both runs this time in. She got back and stormed home to win very well at Newcastle last start and if she can handle the step up in grade then she should be hard to beat. The claim gives her a bit of a weight relief and hopefully young Adkins uses barrier one to his advantage. No. 7 Just Dreaming has come back well this prep and she must be respected again from the nice barrier. She brings some very nice form into this race, gets 2kgs off her back and this filly should get some easy sectionals out in front. No. 11 Walk The Streets ran on well to finish second at Warwick Farm last start over 1600m. She is ready to peak now, but the wide barrier and the drop back in trip worries me. Watch for her late.  No. 13 Volpe hasn’t beaten much in his last two starts, but I have really liked the way he has been finding the line. He ticks plenty of boxes in this race, but I think he might lack a killer punch in this grade.

Have a good each way bet on the 8 at $8 bet now

Race 6 – 2.25PM Benchmark 85 Handicap (1200m)

No. 12 Pick Me Up resumes and has had no public trials leading into this race. He gets in with not much weight on his back, drawn well in barrier 4 and his first-up record is good. Follow any positive market moves. No. 9 Isorich is a tough old galloper who rarely runs a poor race. His first-up run was good and he has to be respected again because he is fitter and this gelding is going to get a perfect run throughout. No. 8 Girl Sunday ran a much improved race last start at this track behind the talented Bonny O’reilly. She has the class to win this, but she does need luck from the draw. No. 11 Firsthand has been good in both runs back this prep and I expect him to really appreciate the rise in trip.

Back the 12 each way at $13 bet now and have a boxed quinella 8, 9, 11, 12

Race 7 – 3.05PM Handicap (1800m)

I am happy to stick with No. 8 Believe again this weekend because he is rock hard fit now and she should get a soft run up on the speed. She will carry no weight on her back after the claim and if she can bring her best than she will be very hard to get past.  No. 10 So Willie has come back well this time in. The step up in class should be no concern and I expect this animal to really appreciate the light weight on his back. No. 11 Supply And Demand has to be respected because he is rock hard fit and will carry no weight on his back and No. 1 Mighty Lucky is a tough old horse who could run another huge race at one of his favourite tracks.

Small bet on the 8 each way at $18 bet now

Race 8 – 3.45PM Handicap (1400m)

No. 7 Sir Bacchus did enough last start at Scone and that form now reads very good. He is a serious animal on his day and I think we are going to see his best on Saturday over this trip. Drawn well and drops in weight. No. 4 Danish Twist has had a little break since her last start run in the Queen Of The Turf, but has two recent trial to keep her ticking over. This mare is a quality horse who could finish over the top of this field if she is ready to go. No. 6 Snoopy ran a cracking race first-up at Scone behind Clearly Innocent. The stable will have him fitter now and he should have no excuses from the perfect draw. No. 9 Invinzabeel won well last start and I can’t find any reason to knock this horse at all.

Back the 7 to win at $6 bet now

Race 9 – 4.25PM Benchmark 85 Handicap (1500m)

Very hard race to finish the day, but I think No. 13 Springbok Flyer can run a huge race at big odds. His two trials this time in have been very good, drawn well and he has produced some nice first-up efforts in the past. If he can box seat from the draw then he will be right in the finish.  No. 14 Dreamforce has been a bit disappointing this prep, but he is fitter now and the drop back in trip suits. He is a well bred horse who could produce his best with no weight on his back this Saturday. No. 17 More Than Fabulous had no luck first-up, so just ignore that run. The stable will have him fitter now, he’s drawn perfectly and this trip suits. Each way chance.  No. 3 Careless has come back well this prep and he does bring some nice form into this race. If he can get into a nice position from the draw than he should be in the race for a very long way.
