I have always had a nice rap on ENGLAND and following his debut effort when third here Waller gave him a little break and he returns here. His recent trial was very good and if the leader and main danger doesn’t pinch too big a break he will be hard to hold out. The leader I expect will be God Of Thunder who won the trial that England comes out of and he will likely be rolling up front. Altair is the one who could easily blow them away without surprising as he has a bit of class.
Race 2
5 – 6 – 1 – 3
MAGGIE MISS is on debut and has looked the goods in her two0 trials and with the rail out eight metres she will be looking to find the top and to keep on running. So Taken will appreciate the step up from 1100m to today’s 1250m which should enable her to hold a little more forward spot and she should be strong late. Press Box was beaten narrowly last start when luck eluded her at the wrong time and she looks a player here.
Race 3
4 – 5 – 1 – 3
Really keen on this gelding HAPPY BUBBLES who debuted at Newcastle three weeks ago and looked the part when winning in good fashion. He jumps from 900m on debut to 1100m today which I think he will appreciate and from a good gate he should stalk the bottom two and I hope go bang as they straighten for home. Gentle Persuasion only needs to repeat her effort from last Wednesday when narrowly beaten and she will be hard to hold out here. She will give a start but will be coming hard in the run home.
Race 4
3 – 10 – 2 – 9
SCREAM PARK has been building towards a win and that may just come today following three runs back this preparation. The little sting out of the track will be welcomed by this gelding and from a nice gate he should get every chance. The stablemate Plagiarist looks the major threat as he comes here off a three week freshen up following a strong win at Kembla over 1400m. Moondancer looks the other winning chance following a nice win at Newcastle when beating The Cartoonist and Gretzky who he meets again here.
Race 5
8 – 9 – 6 – 3
SCRATCHES was a little weak last start when looking a certainty in the run but maybe the winner High Bridge is a handy one so he deserves another chance here in a similar race. Corinth is racing in good heart and is going to win one of theses races when the luck falls his way and if he gets the luck from the wide gate he will be around the mark. Valentino Rossa is another in good form but struggling to win but must be respected in these grade races. Same for Fantastic Man who looks to map well here so keep him safe.
Race 6
5 – 4 – 9 – 10
EXCELLENT DESIGN should stalk the speed here and be ready to pounce. She always had nice raps on her and the money came for her last month when she was a late withdrawal. She has trialled again since and should be hard to hold out. Deity got the job done first up at Warwick Farm and from barrier one looks a major player if the breaks fall her way at the right time. Social will likely lead and give them something to chase while Moccasin Miss will be motoring late.
Race 7
2 – 1 – 4 – 3
ZA ZI BA toughed it out for a super win at Rosehill when beating She Knows and Single Bullet and from a good gate she maps to get a perfect run being in a stalking spot. Piracy comes back a 100m in trip and with a nice strong tempo here he should get his chance to be strong late. Coruscate is building a good record and was solid in winning first up suggesting he is back in good order but he will need luck from the wide gate.
Race 8
5 – 12 – 13 – 4
The favourite Wagner looks hard to toss following his impressive first up win here two weeks ago when putting his opponents to the sword and racing away. There looks good speed so he will likely be looking for cover and then working into the race and using his class in the run home. Due to the barriers I have put METAMORPHIC on top that has been low flying of late with a win and two narrow defeats here. He should settle in front of Wagner and that may be the difference.
