Rail Position: True
Track Condition: Heavy 8 Penetrometer: 6.98
Weather: Fine
A heavy track makes this 9 race card quiet tricky to negotiate, but have found a few plays that look some value on a difficult day.
Best Bets:
Race 2 Number 2 BRING IT HOME POP $8 EACH WAY
Race 4 Number 1 ONLY WANNA SING $8 EACH WAY
Race 7 Number 2 THE MONSTAR $4.60 WIN
Race 8 Number 6 KIMBERLEY STAR $34 BEST ROUGHIE
Race 1
He’s prohibitive odds, but the Snowden’s have found a very suitable race for 12 SPENDING TO WIN. He hasn’t been far away ib listed company at his last 2, and should be winning here.
Numbers: 12 – 6 – 14 – 10 Bet: WIN 12 SPENDING TO WIN
Race 2
Bring It Home Pop is well-performed 3yo from the Darryl Hansen yard, which goes particularly well on the home track. He resumed last preparation with a strong win ion good grade on a heavy track, before running second to PIERATA. He gets similar conditions to that which he won first up last prep, and repeat the dose here.
Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 8 Bet: EACH WAY 2 BRING IT HOME POP
Race 3
Another well placed P Snowden runner in 2 SOKUDA, that’s found a nice race. He was really good when wining last time out, and looks like the 1600m poses no problem. He draws well, maps to get a good run in transit, and should get home over the top of them.
Numbers: 2 – 7 – 11 – 1 Bet: WIN 2 SOKUDO
Race 4
The wraps from the stable have been quiet large on this horse, he has shown above average ability and looks suited here. His 2 runs from a spell have been good enough in harder grade, and this race looks easier. He maps to get a nice run in transit, the rain affected track doesn’t pose an issue, and he looks a safe EW play.
Numbers: 1 – 8 – 2 – 9 Bet: EACH WAY 1 ONLY WANNA SING
Race 5
The Group 2 PJ O’shea stakes, with 7 EGG TART coming here off a close second in the Group 1 Doomben Cup. She looks extremely well placed here, is a proven Group 1 performer, and should handle these. 2 GALLIC CHIEFTAIN will race closer to the speed here than last start, and can improve into the minor money, along with his stable mate 5 TRADESMAN.
Numbers: 7 – 2 – 5 – 1 Bet :WIN 7 EGGTART
Race 6
7 TUMBLER is a high speed mare who gets back and flies home, and has trialed up really well for this. She looks hard to beat, but is short enough. I settled on 4 SNOOPY each way here, really liked the way he found the line first up, and he had been chasing some decent horses last preparation. He can settle just off them here, and be in the finish.
Numbers: 4 – 7 – 2 – 8 Bet: EACH WAY 4 SNOOPY
Race 7
From the astute B CAVANOUGH stable, 2 THE MONSTAR is just a model of consistency who continues to race at all levels. Last preparation he chased the likes of REDZEL & IN HER TIME and co at Group level, and sound last start behind OSBOURNE BULLS. A noted on speed runner, who loves the wet, he gets the opportunity to dictate the speed here, and give a big kick on straightening for Skye Bogenhuber, who has won him previously. Looks a good bet, and a safe 1×2 for those inclined, I’ll be betting WIN only.
Numbers: 2 – 11 – 6 – 7 Bet: WIN 2 THE MONSTAR
Race 8
Her form on paper doesn’t look great since coming to QLD, but she looks primed to run her best race for T Gollan here. Big tick with the jockey change here, with J ORMAN going on will ensure she gets every hope. She was pulled out of the race first up when not in a winning position at the 300m. Then second up, never hit top gear and found more rump than a butchers hook in the home straight. Her three runs last preparation, all at Group 3 level, where good enough to give this a big shake. Big chance at big odds and a EW bet for me.
Numbers: 6 – 13 – 7 – 2 Bet: EACH WAY 6 KIMBERLEY STAR
Race 9
While he’s drawn horrible, I’m happy to stick with 15 ORDER AGAIN, who I think is a genuine group class horse in QLD. There should be enough speed to ensure he can get back and steam home, and he has a good second record and loves the soft tracks
Numbers: 15 – 10 – 17 – 8 Bet: EACH WAY 15 ORDER AGAIN
